I used to haul a 10' Pelican Bass Raider in my 5' bed all the time.

A flat bottom boat rides like shit, but is very stable. A V boat cuts through the waves, but when stationary also rocks in the waves, or when a person is moving around in it.
You are comparing different size boats. A longer boat will also be wider in the sizes you are looking at.

Do you have a harbor freight out there in AZ, if not look it up online. They have trailers cheap and you can build it for what you need.

You could have the tongue cut and stretched. I know kayakers that have done that. By that point CL may be cheaper though.

So have 5 foot bed. Going to get a new Lowe Jon boat, trailer isn’t an option due to no boat ramps where will be launching into river. I want the most stable boat I can get so thinking 10 or 12 if can haul it. Will be getting bed extender for the hitch. I know can do the 10 wondering if anyone has any thoughts if 12 is possible. Thanks
