That sounds ok, I don't care which place we camp. I believe Old Dale Road ends in 29palms. If I am right, how about heading up Amboy Rd. to Bagdad. Catch Hwy 66 west until we find the powerline road that goes over the mountian and drop down into Johnson Valley then explore from there.

I have been this way before, but other direction. Not hard but fun.

It is just west of Ludlow where Hwy 66 meets Hwy 40( 34°46'19.27"N, 116°22'37.76"W). Check it out on google earth.

If you stay along the ridge and lava beds you never enter millitary property. I have been there before, no gates and no millitary signs.

It is about 55 miles from 29palms to hwy 40. Yes it is a few extra miles north around the mountian but we get to 4x4 back.:D

I was just throwing it out there as an option. I am still off work so I might stay out that way and play longer (Monday-Tuesday).

Follow Transmission Line road to Canyon road. (Canyon Rt/ Transmission Rd 34°39'2.05"N 116°33'51.67"W)

Canyon road will drop down to Johnson Valley. Let me know what you think Nick.

I think Roland has a good idea.. We will be off roading all day if we start and do Berdoo and Old Dale mine road.. That will take us at least 7 hours if not more.. If we have anyone else with use it will take longer.. We still wanna be able to set camp up kinda in the light too..
