Up for sale is a used Joying 9” head unit for 3rd Gen Tacoma.

I am trading in my truck and have no use for this, but really enjoyed how this worked in my truck.

I have everything it came with in its original box with styrofoam. If you’re not familiar, this is the unit you can find on eBay and sometimes Amazon. Here is a listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/333423943509?epid=13041212178

Item is in used but excellent physical and operational condition.

I am asking $300 plus shipping cost via PayPal. Welcome to pickup as well with cash in southern tier NY 14883.

Will be posting other items shortly including kicker speakers, trd pro skid plate, brake controller with adapter cable, etc.

    Thanks for looking.

If using eBay ad as reference, this would be dashboard “C” option as this was installed in a 2019.

Bump for a nice replacement head unit. Wireless Apple CarPlay and 9” screen is really sweet in the Tacoma.

Yes; I had to do a little troubleshooting on my second gen, but no splicing or wiring was required. Install was easier than I expected (connections were easy to find and connect), but some troubleshooting was required (I wanted to use my factory camera, so I had to figure out which camera connector to use, etc).

I've been really happy with the unit over stock.

Yes! Unlike the pioneer or Ken woods units that usually require a pac or maestro system to keep factory controls, the joying unit comes with a canbus to utilize all factory options. One exception is not having built in Sirius xm capabilities, but CarPlay and android auto can easily run these from your mobile device.

Yes, actually makes the backup camera easier to see with a bigger screen. Compared to what it had originally in 2019, it’s a nice improvement.

I don’t have a picture installed in my own truck, but if you look at the eBay listing you can get some additional views/ information. Mine unit has canbus option C from the listing.

I did a factory reset before removing to remove my Google account information and what not. I believe it came stock with 8 or 9, but the firmware available through joying is a fairly straight forward process.

Gotcha, gotcha. Joying said mines stuck at 8 because its an older model or something. There is a way around it but with the potential of bricking the unit if it doesn't work..

I have had the Joying 9” in my 2022 Tacoma. It’s pretty much plug n play and steering controls work. Fit is perfect as good as factory. It was great while it lasted but after 1 year, parts of the touch screen are dead. There were a few other quirks like CarPlay wouldn’t connect sometimes….I would not buy it again, giving this one a try: it’s a 2023 model Android 13 Stereo Replacement,1280 * 720 High Resolution Touch Screen,Build in Wireless carplay Wired Android Auto https://a.co/d/0ctG5KB

This is a nice unit. If you're going off the deep end with audio it offers optical out with no distortion to 100% from what I can tell (see tests with o-scopes on youtube). I keep mine at 35/36 volume- optical out to a dsp amp- volume controlled with a remote knob in the console. Looks more factory than any other hu I've seen and has as much functionality as the internet has to offer via apps. You can make it look however you want using different skins etc. Mine auto-connects to my phone on start up and enters car play. My other android unit in a different vehicle requires a prompt- doesn't seem like a big deal but it's nice when things just work without pushing 'start'. Also there is a ton of info on these units on this forum and others. Maybe I should just buy this since I love it so much lol- GLWS.
