I recently sold my well built 2014 Tacoma Baja edt. 6 spd. I wanted a newer truck with newer amenities and soon realized because of the truck prices buying new is the way to go. Finding one would be a task in itself as I decided I wanted a Pro and definitely wanted another 6 speed. I located 3 white 6 speed Pro’s throughout the country. 2 were spoken for so it left me with the one I bought being my only option.
I located my truck in New Mexico. The transaction went smooth. I got them to toss in a TRD CAI and I paid only $250 out of the $1500 for the shipping. I also have seen a bunch of horror stories of people ordering their vehicles and waiting a fairly long time. After I put my deposit down, they told me the truck would be at the dealer in 2 weeks. True to their word, it was and then sent to me. Another great thing is that all the manufacturers add ons done were things I’d absolutely want. Tailgate lock incorporated with the key fob, bed lighting, running boards, console safe etc.

During my short shifter swap. It went pretty easy and was straight forward.

Real nice build so far. How ya liking the 33's and 5.29s? I'm going 31.5 and 5.29 soon. I expect it to be a bit zippy.

I never drove the truck with the 5.29’s and the stock wheels (31’s) I’d imagine it would be a bit too much for that small of a tire but it will work. This gearing with the 285’s is absolutely awesome. I was worried it may have been too much. I initially found in my research that 5.29 is the way to go for an auto and 4.56 is what to get for a manual. I found a couple videos of guys doing the 5.29 with a manual and was convinced to go that route…..glad I did. Now I can’t wait for my tune.

Good to hear. For me it will basically make 6th gear be how the stock 5th gear was. A teensy bit high revving but no issues. Glad you like your setup, I've seen the same videos they pretty much confirmed exactly what I would expect. I'm just waiting out the days until my appointment finally gets here.

Subbed - Went on the same quest for my truck searched, waited, and boom. Took delivery of my 23 TRD Pro 6MT mid October. Stoked, big improvement over my 1st gen.

Glad to hear you like the 5.29s as I've been on the fence. Going to book an appointment for a re-gear. I've got the Westcott collars, RXT leaf pack, SSW Raptors, and 5 285/70 Duratracs in the garage waiting for a free weekend to wrench on the truck.

That Hurst core shifter looks awesome! How are you liking it?

Nice find. I’m definitely loving the 5.29’s on the manual. I feel anything less wouldn’t be nearly as good. Most of the research I did yielded me finding 5.29 for the third gen autos and 4.88 for the manuals. (Not talking about towing or added weight) just for a regear. I found 2 YouTube videos with guys running 5.29’s and manuals and I was sold. I just needed to see that someone was running that combo and liked it. You won’t be disappointed. I am just at the point where I can finally drain the breakin fluid (2 weeks) and drive a little more aggressively. The wescott collars and rxt pack I had on my 2nd gen I just sold and loved it as well.

@RDT415 i forgot to add about the Hurst core shifter. On my 2nd gen I had a TRD short shifter and switched to the core shifter. Honestly just to try something different. Im glad I did it because it’s a very solid unit.

Right on, looks like an absolute tank of a short shifter set up, especially with Hurst’s reputation. Don’t mind the long throws, but all of my MTs in the past always felt better after a SS kit.

nice build so far! what is the wheel offset and did you have to trim at all? I have a 2023 pro and plan on the westcott lift. Trying to figure out what wheel offset would be best with 285/70r17 or 285/75r16

Thanks! In my opinion, the offset and bs I have is a perfect setup giving just the right amount of poke. I’ve had the same set up on the 4 SCS wheels sets I’ve had and now these Volks. No trimming on my third gen, I did have to do very slight trimming on the front wheel well plastic on my 2nd gen. I did do a CMC on both trucks but did not need to.
    17x8.5 4.30 bs / -10 offset.
