Weird considering most lesbians give up things going outback in favor of tacos.

I jumped ship 2 weeks ago from a 2017 DCOR to a new Power Wagon...shhhhh...

6.4 liters, front and rear lockers, solid axles, winch, plenty of room and 13mpg. The 410HP is worth the 2mpg loss and gets it dunn...

Out of all full-size trucks, that would be my #1 pick. That thing is a rocketship (if you're getting the ecoboost, although 5.0 isn't bad, either). And gets the same MPG as the Tacoma. Have fun with it.

Forget Tundra's. 1/2 ton performance from a 3/4 ton gas mileage.

Are there any power wagon forums that don’t suck? I’ve been shopping for awhile but they’re hard to find around here.

Also a fact: take ANY small V6 engine and then add the complexity of twin turbos and you're going to decrease reliability and longevity, no way around adding multiple points of failure... thats the basic foundation of Murphy's law (which is actually an engineering concept widely mis-attributed to superstition).

I'm glad you're having good luck with yours but can't deny the overall statistical reality of the differences in repair costs and longevity of NA vs Turbo. Half the reason cops are ditching the ecoboost interceptors so quickly is they spent so much damn time in the shop!

I worked at a dealer group who's Ford store serviced all the CHP cars for San Diego... when they were running crown vics it was almost always just basic maintenance over and over again. Once they changed to the 3.5L ecoboost we'd ALWAYS have an explorer or two hogging service bays for a week+ at a time getting actual repairs. The entire CHP just dumped the ecoboost explorers and is stocking up on Dodge Chargers. They only kept the ecoboosts for FOUR years!! They kept the Crown vic for TWENTY. Ford dropped the ball on that one, I knew getting a fleet of turbocharged SUVs was a bad move the day it was announced. And whattayaknow the departments that ordered the NA 3.7L interceptors are keeping them and the depts that ordered the ecoboost 3.5L are ditching them for Dodges.

Maybe I'm just getting old but I believe Turbo engines are for PERFORMANCE and belong in sports cars not work horses. They're only now being used to meet CAFE standards (at the detriment of longevity) on the retail side and government mandated requirements on the fleet side, if CAFE/mandated standards didn't exist neither would the entire ecoboost lineup, nor Honda's entire turbo lineup. Its a reaction to government regulation not market forces.

Like the Ford Ranger comes with the 2.3l ECO Boom motor. People getting whole new engines at 10k miles. Imagine yourself on a trail and your engine grenades 20miles out. No thanks. I'll stick to my reliable, yet underpowered NA 3.5l any day. I am not a big fan of dodge trucks as well. Borrow them for my job and the cheap rattling interior makes me turn the radio to max, and paper thin paint that scratches if look at it the wrong way. Dodge screams cheap. 20k miles on them, some less and it sounds like they are going to fall apart.

Yeah. Because turbo diesels are unreliable, non work horses....

You realize all turbo diesels are forged right??

And the point still stands a turbocharged diesel will be inherently more prone to failure than its NA counterpart. Again, Murphy's law

Maybe I'm just getting old as I don't care for turbo engines in Performance cars as they usually have the Boost cranked to high heaven, my Ex-Fiance just traded her Turbo Jetta in with 225k on the clock and never had any issues with her Turbo and she was terrible about performing maintenance. I agree that its crazy CAFE Standards that are forcing all of this high tech stuff that may or not be good for long term reliability.

I can’t find the damn YouTube video now but the other day I saw a video where they went around a large ford dealerships service bay and asked all the techs individually which F-150 motor they thought was best.

Overwhelmingly it seemed 5.0 was the winner.

With that said my buddy has the big ecoboost f-150 and I think it pulls pretty damn hard and sounds good inside. Would be a tough choice for me.

They are nice trucks. The Super crew cab F-150’s are So roomy in the back even when compared to my old CC Ram.

I heard the reason the police are ditching the Explorers are not because of the motors but they just prefer the size of the back seat from the Chargers.Dodg3 recently won the right to supply to all departments.I would by one regardless.

All the police back in my hometown of Clearwater FL are going to Chevy Tahoe. Same gas mileage, maybe better then a crown Vic and the suspension such as control arms and what not are beefy which means less maintenance.

We have the NA Explorers at our department and Chargers. For us it comes down to room inside. Bigger guys wants Explorers everyone else doesn’t care. I will drive either. However we are getting V8 AWD Chargers this year instead of the V6 RWD (we are city so V6 was all brass said we needed) and I will drive that thing as much as possible. We don’t HAVE to purchase either though the Chargers even with the Hemi are cheaper than the NA Explorers.
