    Hi,

Does anyone know if my 07, 2.7 tacoma would run properly with a junkyard ECM, this assuming that the JY ECM is good? I’d prefer to spend <$100 to see if it solves my misfire issue before dropping $350 on a refurbished unit..

    Thought?

    Thanks, Michael

    Michael.....not sure you're thinking clear......

Spend <$100 on a JY ECM to gamble if its good
    or
Spend $350 on a refurb ECM that has been tested and likely has a warranty.

Seems to me the refurb is likely the more successful path.

What diagnostics have you done to find the misfire source???

I grabbed a same part number ECU for my truck off ebay awhile back after I briked my original when HPTuners was in its infancy. Still using it to this day without issue.

What other diagnostics have you performed to lead you to the conclusion you need an ECM for a misfire?

ya that’s kind of odd that he went for the ECM right away

I’ve done a compression test, 165# per cold, checked for hydrocarbons in the coolant, there is no water in the oil and vice versa, replaced, plugs, coils, injectors, and the F/A sensor. All parts are denso. I currently have an intermittent miss on 1 and 3 at exactly the same time and the same number of misfires. I’ve swapped coil 1 for coil 2 with no change. I’m using the mode 6 function on my BlueDriver for the data.

If you get the correct ECM for your truck it should be plug and play providing your truck doesn't have an immobilzer.
That being said it would be unusual for an intermittent misfire to be caused by the PCM, I would be looking very close at wiring and checking connectors for loose pins before firing more parts.
Are you getting any circuit codes or only misfire codes?
