Well, I'm brand new to this Forum - and I have to say what I see I LIKE! Anyway I just picked up my first Tacoma ever... a brand new 2011 Tacoma 4x4 TRD at Olathe Toyota in Kansas. I'm pumped up... and it's beautiful. It literally rolled off the truck and I took it a 3 miles showing on the OD.

The cool thing about all this... I could have bought anything I wanted for a truck and my wife went nuts on me trying to get me to buy a bigger truck...but I stuck with this beauty. I researched this like hell... and there is no better build truck. Now it's time to LEARN all about what to add to this fine piece of machinery ;)

Talk to you all soon ... from Kansas City... signing out... DesertHeat.

All, I will send pictures and a copy of window sticker. The truck is Double Cab 4x4 with the "TRD Off-Road Extra Value Package". Again - I'm a novice with this truck so I hope this helps with answering what it is..

The more i dig into this Forum - the more I'm impressed. Talk to you all soon.

    Signing out... DesertHeat

You are going to really enjoy the truck! It is amazing and can do things that the salesman don't even know about!!

See this post I made regarding the traction controls: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/te...uto-lsd-explained-easy-understand-i-hope.html

Here are the 9 drive mode choices you have:
2009-11 TRD OFF-ROAD 4WD with Hydraulic Brake Booster and 9 drive modes:
    1) 2WD: VSC and TRAC active, engine regulated ('Limited Slip Lite').
    2) 2WD: 'AUTO LSD' ('TRAC OFF MODE'). No engine regulation for 'strong' limited slip.
    3) 2WD: 'VSC OFF MODE' (TRAC is off for 'open differential').
    4) 4WD-Hi: VSC and TRAC active. No engine regulation for 'strong' limited slip.
    5) 4WD-Hi: 'VSC OFF MODE' (TRAC is off for 'open differentials').
    6) 4WD-Lo: VSC and TRAC are both off in L4 ('open differentials').
    7) 4WD-Lo: 'A-TRAC' on gives a 'locker-like, super strong' limited slip, front and rear.
    8) 4WD-Lo: Rear Differential Locked and open front differential (A-TRAC off).
    9) 4WD-Lo: RR DIFF LOCK + A-TRAC on, 3 MPH limit.

I am on my third 4WD Tacoma and came here to TW to learn how my 2010 traction controls worked... I discovered I wasn't alone, and made it my mission to help other new Tacoma owners learn what they have and how it works.

I hope you enjoy four wheeling and serious off roading, because your truck (with TRAC and A-TRAC) is pretty much unstoppable, without any expensive after-market additions!

Let us know how to help you enjoy your new Tacoma!!

Well I got a bit too pumped up over the truck and ran out to purchase a K&N Performance Intake Kit - installed it in the truck with just 65 miles showing. Took me 2.5 hours... but I took my time and took pictures at each step... and there are a lot of steps.

I will try and post the complete experience. Overall you can DEFINITELY feel and hear the difference. I haven't really punched it yet since I'm trying to break-in the engine properly. I learned a number of things while doing this install - the instructions that K&N provide are a bit outdated and I can pass on the lessons learned and outcome shortly

I would say it's worth the money! You can feel it without a doubt on your first accelerator push!
