The wife and I pulled the trigger on a new 2011 DC Tacoma, 4X4, Magnetic Gray. I love the truck and I'll post pictures when I get a chance. The JBL sound system is great. I do notice the difference in pickup between the V6 and the V8 I had in my 4Runner. The 4Runner would get up and go a little more aggresively, but that's ok.

Well, my wife insisted on a bed cover and I wanted one too. When we take trips she wants to load up the back and not worry about luggage, groceries, etc.

I'm a little nervous because I did not research bed covers enough before we bought it. We just knew we wanted one ASAP because I bought the truck about 2 weeks ago and we're going on a trip tomorrow so I just bought one at the dealer. Well, it came in and they are installing it now. I go pick the truck up in about an hour and a half.

I'm concerned because I wanted a bed cover like my bro-in-law has on his Ford SportTrac. It folds but comes completely off pretty easily. I ordered a trifold and they told me it backs all the way up to the cab so you can use the whole bed so I'm thinking it's a bakflip? Then I researched the bakflip.

    Questions if you can help...

    1) Am I going to lose the funcionality of the rails inside the bed?
    2) Are they going to do anything that isn't reversable like drill holes in my truck?
    3) If I need to move things, can I take the cover off easily and put it back on?

Patience young grasshopper.... To answer all 3 questions - Depends on which model you get, just about every cover has been discussed on TW, look through the product review section. And congrats on the purchase

That's the problem Yoda. We wanted one quickly so I didn't really take time to research and what not. They showed me a print off of it at the dealership. Buying it from there probably cost me more $$$ but now I'm just hoping installing the bedcover doesn't make any modifications such as drilling holes that I can't un-do if I don't want to keep this particular cover.

I thought bedcovers were just easy to take on and off because of the way my bro-in-laws SportTrac is easy to remove. I'm guessing that won't be the case because they are telling me this one will take an hour to hour and a half to install.

Crap. I didn't want a bedcover that is irreversible or permanent.

Thanks for the links man. I promise I did some searching here but didn't find much covering whether or not installing a bed cover would leave permanent marks or scars.

OEM Roof Rack Under Cover Bed Cover
I have an UnderCover hard top on my DC. It comes off at 4 simple points, its lockable. It will support my weight when i stand on it. (200lbs) has a little LED light, though i find it useless.

Thinking about selling it and getting a rack for my truck, why? i just spent a year going cross country 3 times, so the undercover hard top secured all my gear. i wont be leaving for a few more years.

happy to snap some pics and email them to you, if you PM me.

Thanks guys. Got the truck back and must say I am very pleased. I was wrong, it's not the Bakflip, it's the Extang Solid Fold.

I really like this bed cover. It's sturdy and will come off pretty easily when I need to take it off. Very pleased and blessed it turned out great.

It looks like you own a 2011, too. Why didn't you wait?

I didn't wait because who the f cares, I needed a truck and liked the current (at the time) models. Now that I've seen the new bumper & dash trim on the 2012...glad I didn't wait.
