No sense in worrying about a purchase after the fact. If it has problems get them taken care of or trade it in down the line and be rid of it.

Another old fart like me driving a Tacoma! Love my fun, fun, fun, Tacoma. It does make me feel a little younger when I'm out driving around. It's a tough looking truck, just the right amount of ugly. lol

Why all the hate from the 2nd gens? I couldn't buy a 2nd gen because I couldn't get past the 21/16 mpg. I haven't hit the 24 mpg highway on the 3rd gen, but I've been close, and avg 20 in town. I'm happy with that. My decision was between a 16 Taco or 16 colorado Diesel, (I demo'd them all), Just not completely happy with the design of the Colorado. ( although, I do like their G80 locking Diff). I am very happy with my 16 Taco, no problems with my AT and like using S mode.

I think normal human character is to be pessimistic. Is the 3rd generation perfect? Of course not. What did you buy it for? Did you buy it for features? Looks? Reliability? For me reliability and cost of ownership is key. I can't stand it when someone says "this truck is better than this other truck". Was there an agreement on the definition of "better"? YOU need to deside what is best for you and let those with different definitions not bother you. This is the problem with summaries from consumer reports. They weigh more on preventing stupid people doing stupid stuff and environmental garbage and never mention ease of maintenance and repair.

Be happy, take care of it, don't obsess with the flaws. You'll enjoy it for years.

Mine is two wheel drive with the rear locker. I have learned a lot on this site (like need to retorque rear spring u bolts, Trans TSB, etc. But I have no vibrations at any speed, If Diff howls, maybe I don't hear it (bit of Tinnitus). Is it the 4 wheel drives that are experiencing more issues? I like the S mode, makes me feel like I'm driving a standard (almost). I really hope Toyota does right by you and addresses all your concerns.

I wouldn't drive any vehicle with the problems you list here, not for 1 day! I would not be on TW whining & moaning. I would kick it to the curb & move on. Life's too short, move on. Telling everyone on TW everyday how much you hate it isn't advancing your cause any. We all hate losing money, but it's obvious you need to be driving something else. I hope you have better luck with a future vehicle.

How about a Taco with a Shelby Gt 350 engine and trans, or a Taco with 600+hp Corvette engine & trans. One can dream.........

I put 50k miles on a 2016 auto. I learned it and didn't hate it near like some people but it's definitely much much different than the powertrain in the second gen.

Questions like this make me wonder how much of the Tacoma sales worldwide, are represented by this site. I'd guess it's a very small percentage.

I have 3 neighbors that have a combined 5 Tacomas. None of them have even heard of this site. TW is kind of like a loony bin with the inmates running the asylum.

I know more than five people I see daily with tacomas and none of them know about Tacoma world. None of them even care that it's a Tacoma. So weird. Friends back home have tacomas. None of them are on here. In my world I am the only dude pumped about how rad the Tacoma (Toyota's small pickup) is. But also I really REALLY love bic pens and NO ONE is posting on the bic pens forum. It they are just so super reliable.
