Just bought a 3rd Gen 2017 TRD off-road. Did I make a mistake?

There are way less active members here than there are Tacomas sold so far in 2017.

The less time I spend on here the more I like my truck. Im at 8k trouble free. I've had a number of Toyota's and they have all had quirks. This one is no different.

Just get out and enjoy the truck and stay away from here for awhile. You'd be among a huge group that are spending less and less time on the site including myself.

TW has a few people that just want to be negative and stay negative. They enjoy the drama, the attention, and won't take the necessary action to truly improve their situation.

I'm a potential buyer who has been scared away because of this place. I hear that the issues are mostly coming from the automatics, but I do not want a manual transmission. I'm trying to patiently wait for the 2018s, but I need a truck yesterday. I don't even care to look at other brands right now. I love how this gen looks!

I'm gonna quote this every time I see someone crying about how Toyota isn't gonna have a fix until 2020 and how bad they hate their truck now.

Maybe quote my posts showing my obvious leak and the follow up from the dealership and corporate denying a problem exists.

I also have the rumble strips vibration but don't qualify for the TSB--my.angles are within spec but I have the problem. So they are announcing fixes without fixing anything.

Fix the fucking diff howl and I'll shut up and quit dogging their product. Until then I won't recommend a 3rd gen Tacoma and I'll spend a few minutes every day bashing it publicly. Imo that's the only way to get them to fix anything.

So, if you are listening Toyota, you will fix your reputation by addressing the transmission and diff howl. 80% of your naysayers disappear when those problems disappear.

Well sounds like it might suck to own your truck. I might be pissy too. I had an entirely different dealer experience with the recall and my truck. Made an appt, went in, had it checked/retorqued, done. I don't have any of the other issues you have. Perhaps, as they say, even the sun shines on a dogs ass some days.

Of course, none of this makes the whole "No fix till 2020" claim any more true.

    A few minor things...
You made a terrible mistake purchasing a 3rd gen Tacoma...

    Just kidding.

I love my 2016 TRD Sport. Got the TSBs done, trans fluid topped off, and did some mods (AC drain, Pop Lock, and a few others) and it's great. It's a brand new generation so there's bound to be some problems with it.

OP, as long as you like your truck just enjoy it. You can always second guess yourself straight into misery if you're not careful. Don't let the possible issues scare you. Just look at it as key info you can use should you ever have an issue (I hope none). You have a great truck, drive it and enjoy it.
