Today I bought the camper, it is not on the best shape but is pretty good. I was just wondering if you could replace the handle (flap) on the rear window. ⬇️⬇️. Also how do you connect the brake light..

You should be able to replace the handle, just need to figure out which one to buy.

There should be a set of wires exposed along the inside of the shell. You can connect those to your rear light by putting the wire through the bed. This is a pic of what i did for mine, used a T-tap connector to tap into the wire for the brake light. I did the same for the ground, not shown in the pic. You should also test that the light to make sure it actually works before connecting it all up. Just connect those wires to negative and positive terminals on a battery.

I think I worded that wrong, I meant the flap/ seal? :notsure:
I think the previous pulled on it to hard that is falling apart, whenever I get home I can get a pic of my topper.

You should be able to replace that but might be a bit of a bitch to slide it out. I also need to replace mine.

AA Toppers in Denver may have the parts you need. Check out their website. I use the south Broadway location

    Here it is!!

I have the rear window btw :D

also I have been looking for some places to paint it but no luck.. does anyone know of a place here in Houston?

I would also be happy to trade it for a red one, it’s going to be a bit of a hassle trying to paint it. Thanks!

Couple of decent online sources for snugtop parts -
    https://mysnug.com/
    https://socalcamperparts.com/

Even if what you are looking for isn't on their site, I'd give them a call. See if they can order what you need. You'll need your serial number off the cap. Look for a metal plate with it inside.

One more site but with this one be leary with putting anything into the cart and checking out. Not sure if they are still doing business. Might be helpful with part information/numbers.

I think you can just go into the snugtop website and there is a place to enter your zipcode. It will generate a list of snugtop dealers and they should all be able to help supply parts.

I need that frameless rear glass tailgate seal (with the plastic cover) too and have not been able to find it with the plastic cover (mine cracked), on this site you can search by truck model. Mine is Leer but I think part is the same. I will e-mail them to see if they have it.

    https://truckoutfittersplus.com/truck_topper_parts/Topper-Door-Seals.html?pageId=2

I also had to replace the seal under the rear glass because original slipped off the shell after only 5 years or so. IMO its a good idea to lightly sand the paint to give the adhesive more grip, since doing that its lasted well over 10 years. The adhesive just won't hold well on glossy paint.

Wife keeps getting on me for keeping a 20 year old truck but one of the reasons I do is because of the shell cost if I buy a 2nd or 3rd gen Tacoma. I paid $1500 for the shell when I bought the truck, 5 years ago I heard they are $2500 and I don't even want to look now.

I have paid cash for small/medium auto painting jobs. I think the key is to find a place that specializes in custom paint, not so much insurance jobs as they seem to be more accommodating. You could save lots of money by sanding it, I don't think you would want to go through the base coat if its in good shape. They can legally do small jobs like bumpers outside but probably not the shell and once they have to bring it in the booth its time+money.

One guy on Reddit auto paint showed some classic cars he painted outside and one guy was giving him a really hard time but pretty much everyone else was supportive - as long as the EPA doesn't see it I guess. So you might try reddit, I see lots of people asking for shop recommendations.

I looked closer at mine, not sure if OP's is identical as mine is Leer...I'm somewhat doubtful that this part is still available and in any case its very fragile. On mine the latch is held by a bolt through the glass but also with a plastic "nub". The exterior plastic protector is cracked in multiple places, its so thin.

I would have 1/8" aluminum flat stock bent into a S shape if you can find a guy with a brake and glue/bolt this onto the glass with the rubber bulb. Then the second latch mount point could be a counter sinked screw. Of course round the ends of the exterior metal corner because that could hurt.
