I haven’t had the chance to unlock them yet, I need to get a Allan and unscrew the center caps and check them out, which will be tomorrow when I get home....

    Jon,
I did see that however at times, that is incorrect as it could've been an old ride.

I suggest changing your sig to include the newer truck.

I get that but some will provide suggestions based on your old truck.
There are many differences from a '96 to a 2000.

I just watched a video of a guy who had bad needle bearings on his Tacoma and it sounds very similar. When I first put the truck in 4wd it didn’t even want to go forward, I had to give it some gas and it seemed like a joint in the driveshaft because it would lock up every like quarter wheel rotation, now it will go into 4wd and drive but there is a annoying loudish noise...

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Sounds like the front u-joints are bad, or the driveline is warped. As to why it's hard to get it into 4x I can't help you there, except maybe check to see if the t-case is low on oil. Check the diffs while you're under there too, sounds like it's had a rough life. I hope you didn't pay out the ass for it, because it sounds like you're going to be throwing some cash at it to get it roadworthy again, good luck!

It happens to pretty much everyone over come with the Lust of buying a new Truck .

The logic and commonsense circuits get bypassed

Get it up off the ground it should be easy to narrow it down.

Okay guys, so I got the truck home today, and I am utterly confused. After removing the center caps for the wheel, only one side has a AISEN wheel hub... The passenger side has the lockable hub, while the other side just has the spline where it is supposed to sit... What the F*CK?? I unlocked the hub that was locked and when in 4wd it still makes the noise, I took a video but it doesn't capture the sound too well....

Also, the passenger exterior handle wasn't working when I bought it, and the drivers handle worked but not very well... I attempted to fix the drivers handle and took it out of the door, only to have the cheesy ass plastic break when reianstalling it. I ordered two new handles (not oem because they are crazy prices) and also ordered the little plastic rod grommet that sits in the handle...

If I were you, I'd reach other TW people in your general region. If you could connect with a local MOD day or get together you could easily diag a lot of the issues you are seeing. Where are you located?

Im located in Elko, Nevada. Me and my dad are mechanically inclined and could probably figure this out and we have a shop to work in as well.

never seen manual locking hubs that didn't poke through the hubcaps...

but you seem to be missing one of the lockers entirely AND it looks like the bolts are sheared off.

So the photo you posted previously of the listing for the truck you purchased - I just plugged the VIN in on the Toyota Owners site to see what it was originally configured with from the factory (I was thinking it was shipped with 4WD and NOT a conversion), well Toyota says its not a toyota vin. Now maybe the picture you posted had part of the VIN cutoff for privacy but...

They aren't sheared off, the two smaller posts that appear to be sheared off are dowels that line up the hub.
