Any ideas on getting out a partially stripped drain screw?

It is too far gone now =(. I tried hitting it with a map torch and tapping it with a hammer, didn't help. I've heard of hitting it with a chisel and that will supposedly loosen it...

U can always weld something to it to help get it off. Then get a new drain screw.

Thats what I was planning on doing, but its an alloy metal, and I am unsure how good my shitty ass harbor freight welder will stick to it.

Yeah at an hangle with a chisel. Try to hit it downwards.
That's all I can think of.

Actually, my transfer case fill plug is very close to being done. I hate how its low profile.
Going to use an impact soon and hope I don't get to a point like you on ur diff.

After bullshitting with the diff for an hour, finally managed to get it in and secured. Tomorrow I've got Cv's, Hubs and driveshaft. Any tips for getting in the cv's? I attempted on getting one in tonight and the snap ring made it a total bitch....

put a dab of grease on the splines and spread it around. Make sure that the splines on the CV and the splines in the axle are aligned. Hold the CV as straight as possible and use a deadblow hammer on the other end of the CV to tap it in.

I have run into a snag. Like I said before, the previous owner only had one hub installed, so two new ones were ordered because we thought they would just bolt right up, FALSE. The new hubs seem to have a offset that are too far out, and don't even touch the CV shaft. The one hub that was one there, I tried to reinstall today and a C-Clip on the back broke and I started getting pissed, so I thought I would come to you guys for advice... What exactly is the issue here? Why are some manual hubs deeper than others?

You can see the difference between the depth of the new hub (red) vs the old hub (the one installed, but now broken).

Heres another picture of the original hub that came on the truck, it is shallow enough to catch the CV shaft.

There are several Aisin hubs, the ones from earlier solid axle trucks and 86-95 IFS trucks do not fit on Tacomas

Are you sure you don't have CVs for an ADD truck?

Whoever sold you this truck, would tote an ass whipping. He was probably shocked as hell, that you didn't test the 4wd. Good luck with getting all this straightened out. Also, I would pull the rear diff just to make sure your gear ratios are the same.

I'm not sure of the length but I do know that ADD and manual hub trucks use different CVs. It wouldn't surprise me that the ADD one is shorter since it uses a drive flange
