I'm a truck guy at heart, but my past few years were spent driving around in a little grey Honda five speed coupe with a roof rack on it so I could haul my yak. Those days ended two Thursdays ago with me colliding with an uninsured and unlicensed driver driving an unregistered car and totalling my sweet baby. Fortunately, I had comprehensive insurance and was able to immediately begin my next vehicle search while mourning my loss wearing sackcloth and covered in ashes.

My wife and I are about to close on our first house and while it's solid it's going to need some remodeling in order to not look like blind gypsies decorated it 30 years ago so I needed a truck to be able to haul materials in without bothering my dad or brother in law (he's got a 4x4 Tacoma too--kind of my inspiration) so I figured I'd get myself a truck. I wanted to get one anyway when I wore my car out, this just moved it up a few years.

I settled on a 2001 V6 xtracab 4x4 SR5 with 133k miles on it, and other than an slight underbody rust issue and the previous owners pack a day habit I am 100% satisfied with my purchase so far. I detailed it and covered the upholstery in baking soda and febreezed it a couple times, and I'm going to deal with the rust by wire brushing the worst rust areas and putting on some type of rust guard paint on it and hope that it doesn't get any worse. I will be doing the deck plate mod and dropping in a k&n , upgrading the speakers, putting on BFG 31" ATs, rhino lining the bed, and possibly a camper top at some point, and that's probably it (it came pre-scratched so that's taken care of), just enough to get me safely down a moderately rough trail I need to traverse to go fishing, hiking, or kayaking, or hopefully all three at the same place

Glad to be here and here's a couple pictures!

Very nice. I'm afraid you're wrong on your short list of mods being "it"... It's never "it" I promise this thing will take all your money :)
