    Will I regret it??
I was so excited when I bought the truck I clearly didn't ask enough questions or look at the details of the sales contract. I kept the GAP(for now) but dumped the extended warranty(100k miles) and prepaid service to the tune of almost $6k. I just couldn't accept that none of the $12.5 I put down went to principle. It literally took longer to cancel than it did to buy the truck...Crazy

Most of us don’t have extended warranty and we are doing just fine.

For the $1,200-1,600 they’re going for, it’s worth it to me, but everyone’s situation and thoughts are different. Now, for $6k? F no!
If you’re unsure, go shop it.

For good or for bad, I did buy ONLY a tire/fob warranty, assuming my ineptitude would bust a tire before anything else. And they say they replace complete wheel or tire instead of just patch/hope. Others may say that was a mistake, but ...

Tacomas sell for so close to original cost that GAP was pointless to me. But maybe in 3 years Tacomas will depreciate as fast as Civics.

I got a 3yr maintenance and 7yr/100k for about $2900....looking to cancel it here soon and start shopping around as well. Feel like just the warranty should be around $1200-$1800 right? How are we feeling about it?

When did you add it? From what I understand, you only have a certain amount of time before you can remove the extended warranty. I think that time period is within 24-72 hours of signing the paperwork.

Ext warranty for me was about $3600 and the maintenance plan $2250. This is my first Tacoma but I've had many Toyotas and have never had an extended warranty so i'm feeling like I did the right thing. I guess only time will tell...

I bought my truck in October and had no issue removing all the extra crap, other than the finance guy trying to talk me out of cancelling...

You will not regret, not having the warranty. I take 1/2 the money you saved by not paying for those extras and put it in a savings account. I try to do that with all major warranties I'm offered. Saving half of the warranty price will build savings for an emergency fund to cover any unexpected repairs if needed.

Extended warranties are always a rip off. The folks that create these products know the risks and build in a huge profit margin. There is a reason they push them so hard. The only benefit they have is, if you are a worrier, they let you sleep easier at night.

You can get an extended warranty for around $1200. I just got one for my wife’s Prius from Jerry Johnson. Great guy to deal with. Here’s his contact information.

I was informed when I purchased it that it can be cancelled anytime (the finances are handled by fidelity) and prorated back against your loan. I purchased my Tacoma used in January so have only had one loan payment so far.

If you cancel within the first 30 days you will get the full amount back, after 30 days it’s prorated.

Good for you OP! Extended warranties are for the weak minded.

I had none of that and it wasn't even discussed. Just MSRP, tax, license, and and a $299 doc fee. When I asked about removing some of the port added items they said they couldn't but offered free ceramic tint as an added no cost item. Honestly, the four port added items I would have purchased later anyway but it would have only saved a couple hundred bucks. Extended warranties never came up and the included Toyota "free" oil change/tire rotation service I won't use.

I have several vehicles and will only drive 3-5K miles a year at most in the Tacoma and a result extended warranties don't offer much. I had a transmission replaced in another trail rig five years ago and it came with a five year 100k mile warranty. I got them to go 10 years and 36k miles and felt pretty good about how clever I was. I have driven it 10k miles in those five years. They went out of business two years later so it doesn't matter anyway.

Would like to add. If they didn’t make money on extended warranties, they wouldn’t offer them.
