I have some other pics of the global ranger with different grill and stuff and it looks pretty good. There is potential. Although the tail light design is ugly. However I'm sure ford would make some styling changes if they used that platform on the American ranger

I don't think that I would ditch my 2016 for a 2017. I have the vibration issues, have a claim with Toyota, and was told yesterday that the vibration is characteristic for the truck. District Toyota rep called it normal engine/transmission harmonics. 887 miles on it. I should not have been a beta tester for the first year redesign. If the 2017 is no different, it is a definate no for me.

For all of ya'll with a problem free truck.......I am envious! I can only imagine what a blast you are having! Let R' Rip!!!!!!!!!!

They are produced in limited quantities and sell too fast. Toyota has no incentive to discount vehicles that fly off of the lot. Kind of like how there are no incentives on Tacomas.

:puke:Good luck lifting that, or doing anything fun with it.

I like my 24.4K SR 4x4 a lot, but I was considering trading it in for a 17' Pro, but that would be the same as throwing like 10 grand down the drain in tax dock ect.

Id love if ford brought the ranger back with a stick, id advise against anything diesel made after 2006 though unless you wanna spend extra money to remove all the EPA crap on them and re-tune it to run properly without it but by then you already paid way more over the gas model and then more for the mods that you'll never make up in fuel costs unless you have a very long commute in which case id probably advise against a truck in the first place.

Illegal to remove the filters and stuff. A lot of places won't even inspect them anymore if you have deletes

I will try to video it tomorrow. Don't know if it will give enough detail. The vibration is from 20mph down as you deaccelerate. It is not the brakes......the truck even does it if you put it in neutral and let it roll to a stop. Thinking driveshaft issues. My driveshaft has a wad of lead weights on one end where they tried to "balance" the shaft. Dealer said shaft looked OK but they didn't take it off to see if it was true.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
... ^^^ ... Words of wisdom for all mankind to read ... and very true.

FWIW, I have had many Toyota (large & small) trucks ... both 4x4's and 4x2's and because I am a non-off-roader ... the 4x2's served me much better, with less problems, with less initial cost and operating costs and headaches. (4x4 guys don't flame me, this has been experience).

Now, IF you plan to do off some serious roading ... a 4x4 is an absolute must, period.

FWIW, I love my 2016 (small issues and all) and it takes Toyota about 3-4 years to make a major upgrade change to a new platform and put them into production.

The Gen-2 started in 2005 and by 2010, Toyota had it really good, and between 2011 to 2015, they perfected it. Same will happened with the Gen-3, but a little faster.

PS ... IMO ... The best "end of generation Tacoma platform" was the 2004 Gen.-1, 4x4, V-6, and that is why a "cherry 2004 is really in demand.

PPS ... I still love my truck ...:D

Not much. The most vibration is in the whole rear of the truck and in my seat.

The only thing I've noticed is a small vibration while climbing hills under high rpms. It's noticeable but not something that would make me cry about my truck

It's the 2100-2400 RPM buzzing steering wheel and pedal vibration, especially uphill in that range that is the mood killer. If you don't have that, then all is good! Hope you're enjoying the new truck by the way!

Here it will not legally pas inspection on the New trucks. If a shop passes it they can get fined and lose their inspection licenses along with the inspector. Most around here will not pass it

I too was a big Ranger fanatic for quite some time. They are cool little trucks that get the job done without being some big obnoxious blunderbuss the size of a box car and gets the fuel economy of a freight train. They were great trucks and honestly have no clue as to why Ford got rid of them.

As for your Tacoma, I think what 2016 owners are experiencing is the growing pains of having an entirely new type of engine, as well as a whole new transmission. While no doubt many of the horror stories on here about the dealership washing their hands of the issue are a result of laziness by the dealership, I think alot of it coming from the fact that the Techs don't know entirely what is going on with these trucks. The 2005 Tacomas had a similar plethora of issues that dissolved over the years and Toyota fixed them eventually. Toyota is funny, they'll scoff and fight like hell to give you something stupid like leaf springs, but then they'll replace the frame on a 8 year old truck completely free.

Am I saying you are wrong and your issues unwarranted? Absolutely not. I just think we are experiencing the growing pains of a new powertrain that Toyota didn't develop fully, but will fix for you once they get their shit together.

It will be manufactured at the Wayne, MI plant once the Focus/C-Max moves to Mexico in 2018 (already negotiated with UAW). It'll be sold as a model year 2019. It'll be an updated version of the T6 Ranger with a drivetrain specific for the US market. All of this is available in published news sources (check Detroit news websites), and since I'm an engineer at Ford that's pretty much all I can say about that ...

edit: PS ... they lift just fine
