Isn't that what you have in your Tacoma, without all the jeep problems? I guess I am confused??

    No.

I hate buying vehicles and want to do it as little as possible in my life. Plus... thats a lot of wasted money.

I have zero interest in that vehicle. Zero.

Nah, I'll be looking at an old CJ5 next month though. I figure the reliability is about the same. :D
Double-cab trucks aren't my thing and that four-door Gladiator is ugly AF.

Probably best to wait until it has been out for a few years. That way if there are any major issues with it they will hopefully be resolved by then, as well as the hype being over so you dont have to pay msrp

I'm sure the Gladiator will sell very well, but I'll pass on that one. I'm glad to see more midsize trucks on the market though. Competition is good for us consumers and it'll be interesting to see if Toyota makes any updates to the Taco going forward. Right now though, if I was going to trade my truck for anything, it would pretty much be limited to a TRD OR 4Runner. Nothing else out there that I really like that much. Well, except the Landcruiser, but I don't have $85k lying around at the moment. :(

The Gladiator looks idiotic. I'd honestly drive a Ridgeline before I'd be seen in one of those.

Plus I'd never buy a Chrysler product.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
No way I'd give $$$ to a company that was bailed out by the US Gubermwnt and then sold out... to the Italians. No freaking way. Plus it looks hideous.

To me the Gladiator has that look where you're trying WAY too hard to look cool. lol

Like, the Ridgeline looks dumb, but its styling is understated - The Gladiator looks dumb but it's looks in your face and try-hard. lol

The new ridgeline does look a heap better than the old one. But... its still just a pilot with a bed.

Oh I totally agree. I just find the Gladiatior more offensive to look at. The Ridgeline looks silly, but it's not trying to look cool either.

Like, I picture Gladiator drivers being that upper-middle-aged guy wearing a popped collar pink polo, aviators and a leather jacket. lol

I'm the type of vehicle purchaser that buys new vehicles only when they are too expensive to repair... being I'm owning my first Tacoma, I am hoping that's 10-15 years down the road.

However, if buying now, I'd absolutely look at the Gladiator. I waffled between a Jeep and a Tacoma when thinking about a new vehicle. But for me, a virtually 95% onroad driver, the downsides of a Jeep were too much (loud, poor mileage on roads). If those same downsides exist in the Gladiator (and based on styling, I'd assume they would), then the tacoma would likely win out again.

Someone told me once... a lot of people have owned jeeps, but only a small fraction of those people have owned a 2nd jeep.

I’m glad to be of assistance! I’m on my second Tacoma. So far the 3rd Gen feels much sturdier than the 2nd Gen I gave up a few years ago. My AMC Jeep Grand Wagoneer is pretty fun but she is a garage queen these days.

    Definitely enjoy that Overlandish Thread!
