I just changed my plugs, wires and fuel filter using all Toyota parts. My truck is still idling rough only when it's in gear either at a light or stop sign. If i put in neutreal it runs fine??? It's a 97 Tacoma with a 2.7 litre, automatic. Just wondering if anyone knows what eles i can check for?? It runs fine when i'm driving at any speed, just runs rough when sitting at light and in gear??
    Any suggestions would help.

MAF sensor maybe? Had a 99 4 runner do that and that was the problem. It would stall at a light but run good other wise. It also ate some fuel when it was doing that.

x2 on the MAF, try removing it and cleaning it with electrical contact cleaner just be careful with it they are fragile. your engine might benefit from a good seafoaming as well. also is your check engine light on?

The 2.7 has a chain not a belt.

I would definitely try cleaning the MAF sensor and throttle body and see if that helps.

mine is the newer style 2.7, 2tr-fe. but mine idles a little rough too. always has. and it idles really rough after you disconnect the battery because that resets the computer and the truck has to learn your driving habbits again.

what im getting at is have you disconnected your battery recently, and have u always noticed it rough idling or just recently noticed it?

My engine light just came on, so now i'll get it scanned to see what it is but i will also check the MAF while i'm at it. After putting fuel, the engine light came off and then came back on about an hour later...

    Thanks Guys

Well the CEL could be gas cap.
But when I had my 02, the cure for my rough idle was cleaning the throttle body and also doing a SeaFoam cleaning....

But it could also be a o2 sensor, bc I remember my o2/AFR sensor went bad and gave me a rough idle.....

    Good luck man!
