Coming back from a motorcycle hare scramble I was driving 75 mph. It died to me acting like it was fuel related. Big tow bill home and I checked fuel pressure. Pressure is within spec. When I cycle key it starts for 3 seconds then dies. Anyone have some ideas? I am a motorcycle tech and hoping I can figure this out quickly since my other means of transportation is my bike and its getting cold here in KC.

Do you have a way to pull any check engine codes?

Since it just happened to me. When you crank over does idle speed jump and then drop off without staying at 500-700? Does engine sound like it's wheezing and sucking air?

My truck died going 75 up a hill once. Turned out the plug on the fuel pump sending unit came loose. Also I've had it die because of a bad throttle position sensor, but mainly when coasting to a stop.

a bad MAF will do that, it can act like a bad coil sometimes and work for a second then nothing

unfortunately there is no easy bypass for any of the things it might be so get out the FSM and start taking some test readings is about all you can do.

Check spark, and make sure you're getting air.

This looks promising! try swapping a couple of coils. but inspect #1 extremely well as to make sure it's not physically broken.

also check the bottom boot where it snaps onto the plug, it may be split, letting it fire to ground rather then through the plug every time.

A vacuum gauge and knowing how to use it will rule out 50% of the possibilities.
