Just took my 2016 DCSB TRD OR 4x4 into the dealer for shifting problems. I'm suspecting low ATF fluid. The service consultant notified me that they did indeed have the newly remapped tranny program.

Anyone have the new program installed? I'm excited to feel it

You're the first to mention that. And being so.. I'd say he's bullshitting.

    We will see soon enough.

Got her back late last night. The Techs "couldn't replicate the problem". So nothing was done. they didn't even check the ATF level. Nor install a new program.

The tech told me there is no new program for the trans like the service consultant had told me. What a waste of a trip to the dealer, and waste of not having my truck for a day,

She's been shifting hard when cold and I'm feeling a flutter while decelerating sometimes. I'm almost positive its a ATF issue. I will be adding/checking it myself

Can you even check the ATF fluid yourself though? I've heard it's almost impossible if you don't have access to a Toyota mechanics tools

My neighbor and I both own 2016 double cab sports with the tow package. He too was complaining about cold "hard" shifting issues both accelerating and decelerating. Luckily for me, no problems. We hooked a scan gauge to the OBD port under the driver's dash and as soon as the trans temp touched 115 degrees we quickly opened the ATF check plug on the pan with the engine running and trans in P. Guess what, no ATF dripped out, nothing, dry as a bone. A few hours later we pumped in 1/2 quart of world standard ATF purchased at the dealer. Repeated that crazy perfect trans temp procedure again and this time we got a tiny trickle of ATF dripping from the plug. The next morning he reported the hard sifting problems were gone, smooth as glass cold all the way up to operating temp. If you don't have a scan gauge, we found that as soon as the temp gauge needle on the dash touches the 2 bold mark the trans is at the proper temp to check the ATF level. I should mention that is with the air temp at about 70 degrees, we've been having a cold spell here in south Florida. I few days later, just for kicks we checked my ATF level and it was filled properly. Hope this helps.

    Edit: Both Mexico built trucks.

Are they both from the same factory, as in both have a VIN starting with either a 3 or a 5?

Regardless I plan to have the transmission fluid checked before I drive it off the lot. If not part of the PDI I'll pay to ensure its checked and watch while it's performed.

You brought it in with a shifting complaint, and they did not even check tranny fluid. I would go to another dealer. Your warranty is supposed to cover issues such as this, so they will get paid for the time checking it. It does not matter if they could not duplicate the issue, the customer complaint is shifting related, step one is to rule out fluid level. If it was low, they could add fluid and file warranty and send you on your way. If it was at the proper level, then they could claim, ¨could not duplicate the issue¨, then send you on your way and tell you if it worsens come back. I would be going to another dealer and have them service my truck from now on if I were you.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
They didn't bother to check the fluid level? Shame on them and another reason to stay the f away from them.

I took mine in for the same thing, although mine was rather minor compared to other reports. They couldn't replicate it, but told me the master tech has had 3 in the shop the last week with low fluid and that there is an OP code (not TSB) saying to check the transmission fluid level. I'd call them back and tell them you want them to check the fluid.

There was no new map when I was there on Friday.

Op code is usually just the dealerships code to put a line on the repair order. The service writer probably wrote this is you were telling him to check it or if he knew they found one with low fluid before yours
