Keeps them from getting scratched up when people are getting in and out of your truck.

Couldn't afford? Jump to conclusions much? It's entirely possible he didn't even realize they weren't installed. Some trucks come with it on already from port, some don't. It's the luck of the draw, but by no means doesn't mean he couldn't afford it.

    Congrats OP, damn nice truck!

Nice truck. Probably one of the first red trucks that I actually like. Interior is nice as well. Enjoy

And just like that, 4 years and 120,000 miles later I sold it. For the most part I super enjoyed driving that truck. Reliability wise it was 100%. All that ever happened was the original battery leaked a bit at the top and the 3rd brake light lost it's seal and leaked rain inside the cabin. Steering, drive train, electronics, electricals, etc, no issues.

It did have the 3rd gen demons: The whistles (A-arms?, mirrors?) which I never addressed and the insanely soft windshield glass. I put on 120,000 miles because for the last 3 years I lived in Daytona and worked in Tampa every 3rd day. That meant hours and hours and tens of thousands of miles on Interstate 4 which led to numerous rock strikes on the windshield and 3 replacements. Each time the glass came out it had so much sand sparkle it was ridiculous.

The Lear bed lid was great for cargo weather protection but also became a hindrance. With just 18 inches or so of inside height I couldn't carry anything tall in the bed and it became an issue. When we left Daytona we rented the Expedition Max and the Tahoe XL a couple of times (which turned out cheaper than Uhaul) and was able to stuff in 3 times the cargo vs the Taco. That, coupled with the lower back pain the firm Taco seats were causing both me and my wife, made it obvious it was time for a change.

We needed something more comfortable and roomier inside which steered me back to an SUV. I would have stayed with Toyota and chosen the 4Runner but it needs a huge refresh and I wanted to buy a 2018 anything to save a few bucks. 14 mpg from full size Fords and Chevys was a no-go. This time I also wanted all-wheel drive/full time 4-wheel drive.

So, goodbye Taco, hello Jeep Grand Cherokee High Altitude.

I know I never posted much on this forum and never mod'ed my truck much but this forum has great information and great value.

    So long fellas.

I had to go back to the dealership and convince them that the hidden keys were in fact not for the tailgate.

Now there's a long term review.

I'm curious if the new electric seat would've helped your back pain? Anyway, enjoy the Jeep.

I only use my hidden key for the tailgate o_O

    Enjoy the jeep!

Watch out for transmission issues. Any sign of anything going wrong, bring it in. They also have a reputation for vanishing steering fluid. So make sure to check the levels every oil change. 60k is when the Cherokee gremlins come out. So there's a short window to have them covered.

Seriously?? Mine doesn’t work at all. They key that I had to get was that similar to the key of my 3rd Gen 4Runner.
