    Here's a good one for y'all.
Just emailed a local dealer asking if they had any 2016 Tacoma's in-stock - Told them I was looking for a Limited.

Take a look at this response. I'm pretty sure we have some evidence on this forum to refute this. Clueless.

Right now the one that is on our lot is a TRD Sport 4X4 Access Cab.

I just checked all of Toyota's allocations and no Limited models for the Tacoma's are even being manufactured just yet. I spoke with a sales rep about it as well and he let me know that they might be rare for the 2016 year. It's hard to tell just yet though since Toyota is not building any just yet.

I'm hoping over the next month or so things start to calm down a bit and Toyota builds a few more. There are a few people including yourself that are really looking forward to the Limited model- I really hope they start building our first one soon!

No reason to be a dick to the guy just because he doesn't know something or has bad info. Just tell him that there are limited's being made, send him a link to a thread here or whatever. Why be combative?

No worries ... I'm not planning on being a dick because they have mis-information. I figured everyone at TW would have a field day with this one ... that's why I posted it ;)

Actually his statement may be factual since his response wasn't very precise. If he had said "our allocations" then that could be quite true. Maybe his dealership doesn't have any allocations for a Limited. I really don't know how that shit works but I was under the impression the dealer size, sales history, etc. determined what they get and are allowed to order.

But as was previously indicated, seeing them in a 200 mile radius proves they do exist for some of the dealers in your area. Assuming they are actually "in stock" as opposed to "available". Available doesn't mean squat.

I disagree and as a consumer looking to purchase a truck, I have issues with this response from a salesperson.

This sentence is simply not factual: " It's hard to tell just yet though since Toyota is not building any just yet."
And it's compounded with this ending: "I really hope they start building our first one soon!"

He's doing what he is told to do. Sell the truck sitting on the lot.

    Car salesmen are sleazy? Outrage.

Nothing new here, surprise and disbelief shouldn't be either.

Well they just redeemed themselves ... It was fun bashing them while it lasted (thors.hammer I still stand behind what I said, they should be more articulate in their initial responses).

    Here was my reply:

Thanks again for your quick reply.

The Limited model is actually being produced right now. I follow Tacoma forums on the Web pretty religiously and I know there are a lot of folks who have already taken possession of them. Also, you can see them available on cars.com.

Would it be possible for you to follow up with me when you do have one on the lot? I want to take a look at a double-cab, Limited.

I may try to swing by before the end of the week to take a look at the access cab you have on the lot - been dying to see one of the new models in person!

    Thanks again for your help.

And the response (actually well written):

Sorry if I did not word my last email properly.

Right now Toyota shipped one 2016 Tacoma out to each store kind of as the 'unveiling'. Now they are building more and allocating ones out. The ones that are being allocated are in the step just before getting built at the factory.

I did a search all the way back to that stage- what Toyota is planning on building giving out to not only us but the dealers around us. Right now they are not allocating any 2016 Tacoma Limited out just yet.

They should be doing it though over the next few weeks I hope- and when they do I can definitely reach out to you and let you know. Toyota is very confusing sometimes! I'll continue to keep a close eye on everything and let you know when we finally get one allocated to us and I will also let you know when it is finally on our lot!

You also have the option of putting a deposit on one before it arrives. Several people are doing that with he 2016 Tacoma's since they just started being shipped. If you do want to stop by just to drive the one we have let me know! We'd love to have you stop by and share your thoughts about the new Tacoma model- we surely are excited about it!

Thank you again for all of your responses and I'll be sure to check daily and see if there are any updates!

    Sincerely,

Well it was fun while it lasted ;)
