Just entered the Tacoma family, now what?

So after a few years of pining for a Tacoma, I finally got to the point where I was able to purchase one. Say hello to my 2016 DCSB TRD Sport 4x4! It came with the tonneau cover as well! I was just wanting to see what some popular opinions were as far as what the most useful or cool accessories are. I've also probably got about a year left on tires, so what are some opinions on those as well. I don't want anything super aggressive as it is my daily driver and most of driving will be on pavement. I've read that you could go a size bigger to 265/70/R17 and still be ok as far as clearance goes.

Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws and BFF K02s are popular tires that I'm sure you can find some reviews on here.

For mods/accessories, everyone has an opinion, but I'd say change what you need based on what you use the truck for. Otherwise, just enjoy the new truck.

 

We have a baby coming at the end of August, so I'm sure that little booger is going to break the bank well before the truck can!

I guess any money I put into the truck will make it even better when baby turns 16 and inherits it.

 

Then seat covers will be a must! I’m a mechanic and have a three year old grand daughter. My seat covers went on as soon as I got it home! I’ll say next a bed mat!

 

I actually have some Weathertech floor liners from my Explorer I traded in for the Taco. The cargo liner is a perfect fit width wise for the bed, just about 2 feet short.

 

Get a Toyota Bed Mat, not too expensive.

 

So I was really looking at getting a TRD Off Road, because I wanted the rear locker, but I caught a good deal on this one and just getting a double cab 4x4 were my top priorities. What would be a rough estimate on putting on an aftermarket diff lock?

 

These trucks are very capable with out the locker! I’d take it out a few times to see if you’ll really need it.

Welcome! It's a street runner. Do not worry about the mods. Just drive and enjoy! You might consider the OVTune though!

 

Depending on how mechanically inclined you are...

Locking diff is about $1000. Then you need the air compressor, tank big enough for the locker, the correct air lines, and the ability to wire it all up and install it. If you are unable, probably another $600 for install, possibly more. You’re looking at $2500 easy, or about $3k if you find one at a junkyard on a wrecked Tacoma, those wrecking yards know what they’re worth. Guesstimating all prices but.... expensive.
