In three years of ownership. I've used the windshield washer spray......zero times. Is it really necessary to know you're low on wiper fluid?

    Real question.

So, yours is a non-Tech / non-Prem? If so, you have the best version of automatic headlights. With the truck running, you can leave the knob in any position, including parking lights. Turn it off, take the key out, and open and close the door. I believe the default timer is set to 30sec (can be changed in the headunit). Boom, lights off.

If you turn the knob after you take the key out, they will stay on for 20min, I believe?

You can thank me later.

My 2nd gen doesn’t have one, and I’m glad. I just make it a habit every so often when I grab gas to check the washer tank when I check oil and wash the windows. Do it while you pump the gas and it doesn’t waste any time, also keeps an eye out for any other leaks/spills/etc.

Thankfully mine are just craters. 1 of them right in the corner is less a crater, and more of an entire chunk of glass missing. Made quite the sound when it happened, but didn't discover what damage it did until a few months later.

Now that I recall, my '72 VW "Thing" didn't have a low light for windshield washer. I don't think it had a windshield washer. If it did, maybe it was out of water? If it was out, if It had a low light I would know if it worked. I dont think I had any low lights.....my speedometer didn't even work. The ash tray was rusted shut. I don't know if my Tacoma has an ash tray or cigar lighter. I 'll check and let you know.

Here's an idea....why not carry a gallon jug of fluid in your truck, and when the reservoir runs out, refill it?....

It's standard in Canada. So no reason why it can't be standard in USA other than saving money on the little bulb. Some winters I can go through a gallon of fluid in 1 week up here.

People always defend their choices by saying it's not needed. However if Tacoma had standard LED headlights, powered seats, auto windows on all 4 corners, disk rear brakes I'm sure everyone would think it's a better truck for it.

Nah! People would find other things to complain about along with posts that have the obligatory "it's a $50,000USD truck" phrase jammed in somewhere.

I posted earlier that I could get on the bandwagon if the reservoir was hidden like most of the ones in cars these days. With the entire res in full view just cracking the hood, I don't see the problem.

In Mesa AZ you never need to wash windshields. So. You know. That don’t count.
