The 2015 Colorado in black looks mean as hell. If I could get Toyota performance and reliability in a 2015 Colorado, I'd switch in a heartbeat. Why does the 2015 Tacoma look like a 2005 Dakota?

yeah...and that's exactly what chevy does. lures you in with "good looks" and bs claims and produces shit. speaking from experience. oh yeah, and dont expect them to stand behind their warranty either. again, speaking from experience.

The Canyon looks much better than the Colorado in my opinion. The Sierra grew on me too and I prefer it over the Silverado now. I also like the new Tacoma.

My Sierra is fantastic. No regrets making the switch.

And the 100k mile warranty is a nice peace of mind

Thus I expect to drive my '10 Tacoma for another 5 years at least, but I hate the Dakota bubbly long-hood look when GM is producing a muscle-y looking mid-size.

    I've owned them all.

A GM only lasts as long as your last payment (7 yrs). Then you have lost over 75% of the value... it's facked; and that's a full size truck.

A little turd and over-engineered turck like a Canyon, Colorado, Ranger, Raider, Dakota won't be worth squat after 7 years... and it's stupid expensive to maintain a worn out 5 year to 7 year old NA POS if you can't do it yourself.

A Tacoma has way less maintenance costs after 5 years, easy to fix if you own a tool set, OBD reader, load and voltmeter. It holds its value, and is a way facking better truck. They keep it simple for a reason.

You, the owner of a simple technology based Tacoma , have an open tapestry to make your truck, the truck you want.

    Just sayin'

Didn't but my Taco based on looks nor did I buy it to use as a work truck. It is a dd for me. People who complain about what Taco's do or don't do need to remember, it's still a truck.

It always does come down to resale value, true? I've bought three Toy trucks new off the lot, sold them easily for great return on investment. Even the 2012 I just sold in August I got exactly $432 less than the original base price. I lost $5000 on it after mods, taxes, registration, but I got two years and 30k miles out of it. 85% return on investment for two years and 30k miles. Take out the taxes and registration and I got 91% return on investment.

Agree completely. Would love a manual in the Colorado/Canyon too. But then Toyota won't even configure a manual for me where I live.

Ranger over engineered? HA. Those things are some tough trucks. Saw one run for over a year with one cylinder not firing due to a busted exhaust valve.
Next one I'm riding in, and all I hear is the engine making almost a knocking noise. Definitely noticeable in the cab. Asked my buddy when was the last time he did anything to it, and all I got was an "I don't know". Checked the oil, and it wasn't even registering on the dipstick. He finally got around to adding some gas station brand oil. That was 5+ years ago, and that truck is still ticking along.

Sure the resale value isn't much, but he got it for cheap, and has definitely got his money worth.

I'd buy one of the european Rangers if they brought it here in a heart beat over the tacoma. Looks way better then the new tacoma, and with ranger reliability, I'd expect it to last long enough until I got bored with it.

If I had the money I'd have every truck on the market lol. But I use my truck as a daily drive and for hauling stuff so I need it to be reliable. The new Colorado has to prove itself before I'd consider it.

Reliable? Hell, my sister owned her Ranger for a week. Three days in, it tried to kill her by losing a wheel, and then two days after being it back on the road from that, the whole transmission blew up, literally. Now I know the wheel falling off isn't the truck's fault. Fault belongs to the mechanic she took it to. But how do you destroy a manual gearbox at 68k miles? The engines in some of them, like the old 2.3, are solid. The 2.3 has been around for over thirty years. But overall, the Ranger isn't great. But that's just my opinion.

If I could get the Canyon in this color I'd at least go to a dealership and check it out.

For what it's worth, I think the Tacoma will likely be more reliable based on nothing more than the history of the generations that came before both trucks. That being said, if you're terribly worried about reliability then just buy an extended warranty. That's what I did when I bought the Tacoma. 100k miles and I haven't paid for a DAMN thing. In 100k miles I've not needed a whole lot but I did need a new lower control arm, front main seal, idler pulley, and recently, a new front U-joint. Warranty was worth every penny; even on a Tacoma. If you plan to keep a new vehicle for 5+ years an extended warranty is likely a good idea. Just give the dealer a hard time and they'll likely cut the price in half (they did for me). I'm never scared to bring my vehicle to the dealer because I know, no matter what is wrong with it, I don't pay for shit. So anyone who REALLY likes a Colorado enough to buy one can just get an extended warranty with it and be happy.

What's a bit embarrassing is the options list. Go look at the options list for an almost fully maxed out Colorado or Canyon. (And yes I know the Tacoma is 10 years old at this point). The Colorado is similarly priced but comes with a million more features and the Canyon is about $4k more with even more cool shit. And before someone quotes my post and says, "Well yeah, more stuff to break...lol derp" see my previous post.

I have faith that Toyota will step into the market again with a truck that keeps pace with the rest of the pack. There's a lot of us on the Tacoma bandwagon but I think what is released on Monday will HEAVILY determine how many of us stay on it.

Looks softer in pictures then lol. But to be fair, there's not a single thing in the Tacoma interior that ISN'T hard plastic. ;)
