The thing I like about the OP, is he has the sense of responsability to speak matter of fact of what he did. If you take the same decent level into court, i feel you ought to do well. I think you seen from one other person , the attitude not to take.

Sound ordinance is enforced for a reason as stated previously. I suppose you think cops should only enforce laws that are convenient to you? Having your music too loud is a safety issue.

If you want to blast your music with the windows down on the freeway go for it. If you are in a residential neighborhood and you want the music up, be courteous and roll your windows up or turn it down. We have all cranked the radio at some point but as people have said already, when you do that you can't hear what else is going on around you. The ordinance in CA is 50 feet. If your music can be heard from 50 feet you are citeable. 50 isn't really that long when you think about it.

Read up on the section. Then be honest with yourself. Turn the radio up to the level you had it, go stand X amount of feet away. Can you hear the music? If so, I wouldn't waste the courts time debating it. Just because you don't like the law doesn't automatically mean it's stupid. You could always show up and see if the cop shows. If he does then politely ask for a decrease in the fine. A lot of agencies require their cops to show up for court... Some don't. It really depends.

    Good luck!

Turn the music down! The loud music is very annoying and a distraction for other drivers. I did not realize this at a young age, but I do now.

The content of the conversation is not important here. What is important is common courtesy towards others. And, I do not think that anyone here would agree that you have won any argument. All that you have done is shown your lack of consideration and discourtesy towards others and your blatant sense of entitlement.
