    Take the belt off, and run it for 30 seconds or less. If the noise is gone, check all pullies and accessories for noise and roughness when spinning by hand, you'll quickly narrow it down.

    Are there aftermarket pulleys that are waterproof? or is there some product that can be sprayed on the bearing before going mudding to protect them? there must be a common answer besides just giving up

    Idlers are cheap and easy to replace. Don't sweat it too much.

    Most replacement idler pulleys are sealed (i.e. "waterproof"). Search around on here and you should be able to fun out which ones.
