I smell a few problems with this. Lack of pictures of the said problem for us to help, and lack of knowledge by the OP. Details details details. Otherwise we are shooting in the dark

To discuss how it passed inspection two months ago and was sold as passing. Unless of course this sort of thing can go from safe to unsafe in such short of time...?

And about why the drivetrain warranty won't cover it? He needs to understand what is under the warranty and what is not. The people at Toyota Corp are very nice in helping you to understand. :)

Ok they called back. They said it was a center support something that has busted and its not a bearing that can be changed? The stealership dealership that sold it to me wont even talk to me right now. They said they would call me back in another hour they are busy.

A camera is worth nothing if you don't have a truck to take pictures of. The truck is at Toyota. I will go and get in when I get a ride and take some pics then.

If it's a support and not the driveline shouldn't they be fixing it under warranty?
Looks like they are jerking you around!!!

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...

^^this. if the items were in working condition when it was "inspected", they would not have worn down that fast to that point. they pencilwhipped an inspection sheet and sent the truck on it's way.

They said it was like a center support in the drivesaft itself with bearings and such. This is just what the guy said. And it was busted and couldent be fixed

Isn't the center support the actual bracket for the carrier bearing?

If it is shouldnt everything being covered as it was a non-wearing item failing causing the failure of the entire driveline?

Now get all of this on paper for the shop that your truck is at now!!!!! Then proceed to go back to the lot you bought it from with this and your original papers in hand including where they stated it passed there used vehicle inspection and go straight to the General manager. Be calm polite and go from there.

    Best of luck

I asked the middle man (not the wrench turner) and he said it wasnt the carrier bearing. He said a support in the middle. Did he mean inside or something. I dont get it. I will definitly take pics for you guys when i get a chance. Even though i dont even know where the carrier bearing is at this moment.

You have a two piece drive shaft, in the center of the two pieces there is a roller bearing that supports the middle. This is whats known as the carrier bearing, basically carries the rotating weight of the two pieces. The bearing is a wear and tear item, however the bracket that supports it is not.

Thus why we feel warrany and first dealer you bought from should cover it.

Yeh I think he is saying that the bracket that supports it is messed up. I have a 3/36,000 powertrain from them but they said only lubricated interior of motor, transmission, and rear end.

It's not that hard to spot, look underneath the truck and it's about midway of the truck. If it's the carrier bearing mount that is busted, it is a non-wearing part and should be covered. Another option is buy a "beefed" one from a member here that makes them and have that thing welded on and replace the bearing as well. Probably cost you less than $200.

Well if you mean they are saying that as to not be held responsible for this failing, then thats wrong ESPECIALLY if its the bracket not the bearing.

If going that route why not spend a tad more and get a solid drive shaft and be done? Thats what i plan to do in the future anyhows.

That was another option but that would be the $400-$500 though it should have less problems in the long run especially if going to lift.

Why is the solid drive shaft cheaper? I thought they were better. I bought a solid aluminum one time for my old mustang for not much at all. But this damn 2 piece yota one is 1500?

Search for "Tom Woods driveshaft". I believe the price was about $450 although I don't think its aluminum. Though you should find out first exactly what Toyota is stating that cannot be fixed on your truck.
