at the same time an arb-type bumper transfers a lot more energy to the frame in a crash. not such a good thing. the front ends are designed to crumple to be safer in an accident.

ARB actually has their own crush can/mount pieces that are designed to crumple much like the stock bumpers do. They are also fully airbag compatible. So maybe other similar bumpers follow what you say, but not ARB.

...which, by the way, its time for the OP to get!

    UPDATE:

Got a call from Statefarm (the other guy's insurance company) and they are going to pay to have my truck fixed 100%. They will also pay for the rental car while my truck is getting fixed. Going in tomorrow first thing to get it appraised by the shop manager.

When I was on the phone with the lady from the insurance company, she noticed I had a 99 Tacoma based on the claim # and she started telling me about how her son has a 95 Toyota that they bought for only $700 and it still runs great. She agreed with me that they last a lifetime.

So hopefully soon my Taco will be alllll bettterrrrrr

We'll see....maybe Toyota will feel the one I have now needs to be replaced and give me the option for another aftermarket one. :D

If you had a ARB you would just have to buff out a tiny scratch! Glad everyone was okay. :D

Last year i ran into a nissan in my 95. The front was already messed up from a previous wreck and would have cost me over 3 grand to fix... when i hit the guy it f'd him up.. my front end got messed up to... but i only had to pay 500 dollars to fix my front end instead of the 4500 it cost.. so sometimes accidents are good!..

And when i was 16! I got rear ended by 3 people within 1 year by 2 people over 30 and another 16 year old kid... so not just teens suck.at driving.

Oh of course. My favorite is the moms in the SUVs on their phones or doing something else and blatantly not paying attention to anything.

    UPDATE:

Just went to the dealership and talked to the claims adviser. She was impressed to see such a nice looking 99 Tacoma. She also made a LAUNDRY list of things to replace. Price of all the parts kept going up and up. New fender, bumper (over $500), hood, possibly door, and maybe a new brushguard from Truck and Trailer if they can swing it. Also she is going to get a guy to come in and pop out the dent in the roof from the previous owner's tree hitting it.

She is also going to do an alignment (since the steering wheel is no longer straight when I'm driving straight) and do some extensive searching to see if I have any suspension damage.

Also got a new Nissan Altima (since they had no more trucks to rent out) that I get to roll around in for free compliments of the other guy's insurance.

Taco should be back to life mid next week.

I'll have to wait and see. She made noise about calling up Truck and Trailer to see about getting another one. If not, I'll just tire it off to a tree and pull it back out.

But it seemed to help cause more damage to the Taco. :(

    UPDATE:

Just got a call from the body shop to tell me my truck is ready.
Since I had to work tonight, I couldn't go pick it up before they close so now I have to wait the WHOLE weekend till Monday morning. Bright and early I'll be there to pick her up!

Come to find out, they replaced my brushguard with a new one and I requested to keep the old so maybe I can pull out the bend in my old one and sell the new or wise-versa if anyone is interested.

Since I had to give her up, I've been lurking the Buying/Selling forum and went to town, it seems.

    O yea most likely.
Even the cop looked like he felt sorry for the kid after he got off the phone with his mom.

Less than 12 hours till I get my truck back! :D
