Traded my 2005 Mini Cooper S in last Saturday in on a 2007 TRD Off Road double cab with 115k miles on it :D
Still trying to get used to the size difference!
As much fun as the Cooper was to drive, maintenance and reliability sucked. Not to mention it wasn't the most comfortable thing to commute in. I drive a little over an hour each way and the 6spd transmission was starting to get real old in traffic.
I was actually looking for a Frontier but when I saw the latest reliability report come out recently, not only had Mini moved to last place but Nissan was a little further down the list than Toyota than I would have liked. In the past my wife had an 03 4x4 Xterra that was totaled and I had an 02 Frontier double cab 2wd desert runner that I loved the look on but traded in awhile ago.
So I started looking seriously at the Tacoma and found exactly what I was looking for...

That's the wife's 07 Camry in the background.

I am noticing that it's shaking pretty hard when braking and with the high mileage the dealer offered no form of warranty :(
So now I'm sitting here looking at buying new rotors for a truck I've had less than a week. I'm already looking at the Brembo rotors and pads.
However everything else seems pretty nice and the truck is in great condition for the amount of miles it has.
...oh yeah and my temp/compass doesn't work either so I'm already looking at the walkthru on that. Might try that this weekend.
Lots of good info here so I guess I'll be seeing y'all around :D

May try an alignment and wheel balance, too, but if it just happens during braking then you're probably on the right track changing the rotors.

Yeah, it's only when braking and pretty much everything I've read points to the rotors.
At least with the Tacoma it looks like changing the rotors out will be pretty easy. I tried to do the rotors on our Xterra but it was a lot more complicated. I didn't feel comfortable so I ended up having someone else do them.
Other than that, I'm really loving this truck.
My first tank of gas I got 20.67mpg however my second tank seems a lot less. I'll know for sure when I fill it up tomorrow. As of now I've only got about 250 miles on this tank and I'm closer to 1/4 of a tank than 1/2 which is concerning me. Could warped rotors be killing my gas mileage by rubbing? I'm not noticing any grinding noise so I'm not sure yet what's up so I'll hit the gas station in the morning. I do know I never got more than 17-18mpg in the Nissans so I'm pretty happy with 20+.

I just traded my MINI Cooper S Countryman for a Tacoma too. I was sick of the 6spd in traffic as well...among other things. Congrats!

    Very cool Skot!
I actually got raped on the trade in value for the Cooper compared to what I paid for it orginally. However I bought it less than 2 years ago with 58k miles on it and traded it in with 105k on the odometer.
I'm really looking forward to not having to drive an hour and a half away just to get to a Mini dealership for any kind of service.
Not to mention everytime you want to do any maintenance you have to have a "special BMW" tool.

Update: The brakes feel a little better today so maybe it worked itself out? Gas mileage on the second tank was 19.44mpg.
Lol, that's definately one thing I do miss about the Cooper was 27mpg!
