    Folks

I thought that I was dropping off my Tacoma to have 5100s installed today. Turns out that the 5100s that 4Wheel Parts sold me were for a Tundra. The shop noted this before lunch, and spent 7hrs removing the F**king spacer lift and diff drop kit that the previous owner installed. Now I am rolling around on stock suspension, having shelled out the money for what could have been a full suspension install.

What a sh!t day, and I still have the alignment to pay for tomorrow. Gotta go get on my bicycle to collect the damn thing from the shop...

At this point in time I can't imagine spending a dollar more on installing 5100s. Perhaps in six months or something when I have more disposable income to throw at the truck.

I ordered on the phone to secure a slightly better price (associates can knock off 10-20% at their discretion). The part numbers I referenced online were the Tacoma ones, but the idiot rung up the Tundra ones.

Suspension install isn't all that hard, especially if you order new springs for the front and have them mounted by either the vendor or a local shop. 7 hours to remove a spacer lift is crazy. It took a friend and I like 2.5 hours and that was with us taking our time since we're not "mechanics"

Shouldn't they correct their mistake? I mean you paid they ordered wrong parts they should order the parts and install at no additional cost if anything they should comp you some money for the additional time its going to take.

I do not think that they are at fault either. It takes time, but I think I could have done it faster myself, too.

I think they could have done it faster if they had watched a youtube video, but they did not.

As long as you have the shocks and coils assembled together, putting 5100s on front/rear is about the easiest DIY suspension job there is...just nuts and bolts. If you have a jack, jackstands and basic hand tools you can do it yourself and save a lot of money.

Seems like he ordered from 4WP on his own and had a local shop install them. I'd take it up with 4WP, but more than likely he's SOL.

ALWAYS check part numbers on the boxes when they arrive.

Why is no one asking why he isn’t installing his suspension himself?

This just irritates the shit out of me. People want to modify their vehicles but don’t want to do the work themselves. Maybe it’s a generational thing, but where I’m from and the way I was raised, as well as most of the people knew and know share my stance on this, do the work so you know your vehicle.

Suspension on these vehicles is too simple to install to pay a shop to do. Get yourself a metric tool set, some jackstands, and a 6 pack and set aside 3 hours and you can do this in your own driveway. Yes, I said 3 hours. It’s that easy.

    ^^

and yes I agree. I spent the first year I had my truck paying people a lot of money to work on it because I didn't have tools or the space, but once I got motivated to start doing things myself I started saving a lot of money over the last 2 years.
