Just had a canopy installed... are these normal issues?

That is a cringe worthy install, For $4400 I'd expect nothing less than perfect.

 

I used to install truck accessories right after high school. Not once did we use silicon to seal a cap. There should be a gasket material on the bottom and with certain installs you might have to add another layer of the foam gasket material to get a tight seal. I would go straight to Leer, send them pictures of the install and have them recommend another dealer to fix this.

 

Perhaps you don't have dogs that seem to find the only dead critter and/or skunk in a square mile, who then proceed to roll in it or get sprayed.

I bought my 100xr from the cap it in langley not langford a couple of months ago and they did a great install no leaks or anything and there is some silicone between the cab and cap.I'd rather they make the extra effort and attempt to make sure it's good and sealed,rather then them just throwing it on. Cap it is a big company and I'm sure if you go there and talk to them they will correct the problem.remember they don't make the cap they just sell and install.Leer is based out of California. If you ordered it loaded through cap it direct from Leer then odds are it's Leers fault that 98% of the stuff is wrong 2% being install. When I was talking to the cap it dealer he said Leer was having problems making the cap for the 3rd Gen. @$4500 for a cap they want repeat business and they want people to praise them epically after you spend 45gs on a truck finding that extra little bit for a cap is hard to do.
