Does your Lexus have HID or LED? Look at the Corolla, Acuras, and new F-150 LED headlights. They seem to be more blue/purple compared to OEM HID. You can really see it in those cars on the road. I think that is just the nature of LED.

Traded in my 2015 Corolla with LED headlights for the Tacoma. Upgraded to the Opt7's I love them in the Tacoma, I do feel like the Corolla's LEDs were a little brighter, had maybe a bit more throw. What I notice is the reflection off of street signs is really nowhere near as obvious. I really enjoyed that about the Corolla, I thought it was really neat to have a much easier view of signs, etc. The Opt7's don't reflect off of the signs like the Corolla did.

That said, The Opt7's are pure white in my opinion, they are definitely closer to 5k than 6k. I had a nice gentleman roll up behind me in a Hummer with what I would venture to say Purple headlights, it was obvious how white mine was vs his.

Love them, so far reliable, no bouncing like the HIDs in the other thread, for $100 well worth the upgrade for me. Keeping the originals just in case something happens.

I have HID's. They are way brighter than the OPT7's because they are 4300k. The higher the number the darker the lighting is. If it was a 5000k I think the OPT7 would be perfect for me. I can barely see a thing in dark roads with the OPT7's without turning on my high beam. As far as the cars above it looks like they have multiple LED's from what I'm assuming so I'm sure they are bright enough to light up the road.

Where in OR are you located? Maybe we can compare ours side by side. Maybe mine are defective and don't light up bright enough. Compared to my Lexus the OPT7's are definitely darker and not as white.

The number refers to color temperature of the light. It doesn't mean ones brighter or darker. Lumen output is the measurement of how bright something is. 2 lights with same Lumen output but different temperatures should be equal in brightness. Any difference that an individual notices would be due to how well their eye perceives a color.

Maybe I'm just blind then. With the OPT7's I have to turn on my high beams where I never had to with the factory light bulbs. Never had a problem with the factory HID's in my Lexus where I had to use the high beam just to see. Maybe all of you guys upgraded your fogs as well and have them on all the time. IDK? This is my opinion of the OPT7's. I can't be wrong for having my own opinion on them can I?

No, you're not wrong, as I said any difference perceived in brightness has to due with how well your eye registers colors. The human eye struggles a bit at both ends of the color spectrum whether red or blue and that can make some lights appear dimmer even if they're the same lumen output, especially if a person is color blind.

I was referencing the color, not so much the light output here. Not saying you are right or wrong, just pointing out what I had noticed with factory LED lighting. I am sure the optics on those care are better designed for LED than the Tacoma projector.

So, I can't remember if it was this thread or one of the other LED lighting threads, but someone claimed that there's no CANBUS compatible LEDs. On the OPT7 box it directly says it's compatible with CANBUS. 20160217_070437_HDR.jpg

No BRO-ness to speak of... Well, except Kbro2's
I have now read this entire thread.... I just ordered the OPT7 headlights AND the OPT7 H11 fog lights (the cheaper ones with the lower lumens). Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences with the different products. I cant wait for them to arrive so i can get them installed and ditch the dingy yellow factory look!

You have an integrated beam cutoff built into those LED's right? I have gotten high beamed by people as well with mine on my 2012. The issue is not so much the light itself, it's the fact that people eyes are used to and conditioned to experience the dingy weak yellow that halogens produce and when they see headlights with a higher light intensity, even if aimed correctly, over dingy yellow they freak out and automatically think people have their high's on.

These are the same people who cry for political correctness all over the internet and usually cannot take a joke without crying about it. So don't worry about it. Let them cry.

I keep telling people to use dielectric grease when installing any bulb.
Be doing that with car/landscape lighting for a long time and the bulbs last for years.
