So I just installed the 32" C2 Series light bar by Opt-7. I wanted to install it using the standard supplied brackets and knowing the Tacoma has that aluminum beam the runs across the inner bumper, I thought I could use that. I measured the brackets and to make it work with the beam, I needed about 3/8" more height to have the light bar sit perfect in the center of the lower grill. I went to Home Depot and bought a couple dense rubber pads and added them to the brackets for ideal height. I then bought some 1 and 1/2" self tapping metal screws. I fastened the light bar on each end directly into the aluminum, all centered up. I'm really happy with how everything came out. This lightbar is super bright and feels quality. The pictures are a few of the ones I took during install. I'll post a few night shots in the next post if anyone would to see.
Anyone else rocking these light bars?

Alright so I do have Opt7 leds in the whole front end and am pretty psyched with how everything matches and I think it looks really good.

Hey man, I know it looks strong enough, but I wouldn't trust the two self tappers to hold that heavy bar over anything but smooth pavement, especially right in front of your tranny cooler, ac condenser, radiator.
There are several companies that make a nice strong real mount for your lightbar to sit exactly where you have it. This is one example.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/32-led-light-bar-mounts-stealth-and-flush-styles.406017/
Those are the 2nd gen mounts, but they make 3rd gen also

Looks great. I'd trust those self drilling screws all day, they are working together as one unit with your brackets attached. no worries there.

Thanks for your feedback. The screws feel really solid and I have been driving around with the light bar for about a week now. This is what I used-IMG_9008.jpg
I will check the lightbar periodically for any kind of movement but because the screws aren't holding the weight of the lightbar itself, it's really just keeping the light bar from moving or rocking back and forth, I'm really convinced it will be quite alright.

And for the record my self tappers are holding up fine with the last 40k miles of driving pavement and offroad and washboard dirt.

Wiring details? Switch? What did you tap into for power to the switch?

I connected right to the battery terminals and ran the wire through the firewall right before the dash. It's just hanging out in there with the stock switch until I get my mictuning switch from Amazon in a couple days. I'll post pictures of that. I did use the wiring harness that Opt7 offers with their light bars. Sorry don't have any wiring photos at the moment.

It wouldn't hurt to check them but I've never had one come loose, even on sheet metal.

Where on the firewall did you run your switch into the cab?

Looks great! Is there already a hole in the aluminum bar or did you need to drill into the bar? Any other modifications you needed to do? Instead of running a switch I'm considering purchasing the wireless remote setup and just keep the remote easily accessible.

Just the main firewall rubber grommet between the cab and the hood. It sits directly behind the little pocket hole to the left of the steering wheel. If you're sitting the driver's seat, it's above and in front of your left knee. (Sorry no pics).

I drilled a small pilot hole with a drill and then used the self tapping screws to hold down the brackets. They feel strong. Yeah the remote switch would be cool!

Okay I finally got my Mictuning switch installed. I tapped into the dash lights behind the cargo switch (green wire) so the led light bar switch illuminates with the regular dash lights. Fellow Tacoma
world member @aarstad11b helped me with the wiring. Here are a couple pics.
