Just got done installing my new exhaust, and about 5 minutes into driving it started smoking when i came to a stop coming from inside. also noticed it smell like something burning. Is this normal?

I used packing paper at the end were it connects to the rest of the exhaust and it had me worried that maybe a piece tore off and was stuff inside just burning up.

Normal, the exhaust has oil coating to prevent rust/corrosion, you just burned it off, in a couple of days it'll be good

That smell is normal. Exhaust is burning off oil/residue from production. It will go away sooner the more you drive it, no need to worry.

Most likely residual oils and grease burning off and is normal. Even if you were burning a piece of paper inside the exhaust it isn't a concern, it's quite literally filled with burnt carbon smoke all the time.

Definitely normal. I’ve had this occur with other new exhaust installed on past vehicles. Totally common. It does smell weird, though.

Don’t stress, I had one installed a couple months ago and they didn’t have time to drive it around to burn it off, but I also didn’t know what to expect. People thought my truck was on fire at the first stoplight I was stopped at. Hell, I thought I was on fire too! 30 minutes on the freeway at 70mph heading home and never had another puff of smoke after that. Enjoy your exhaust

@Drtbker So, did you like the sound? What do you like most about the exhaust?

For me I got it for sound, I think it sounds amazing and it’s not to loud or annoying. I’m very happy with the purchase.

it adds a nice deep tone to it with out being super loud in the cab.

It’s a terrible smell lol. Especially cause we have been having a warm spell and with the windows down at a red light. It was not very 4/20 friendly

Very good. Glad you liked it. My truck only has less than 2K miles, so I'll just have to put more miles on the exhaust then I'll eventually decide to buy the exhaust. I think they are stainless and I am also comparing them on the Borla exhaust for the Tacoma. It is so far a toss up between the TRD and the Borla, but a part of me would like to stay with the TRD brand. Enjoy your exhaust.

I *think* Borla makes the TRD exhaust.
