Hello. Just bought a 2018 TRD Off-road. Coming from a 2016 STI and love it. Made the change because well it’s fun to off-road. Located in the Reno area. One question I have is, is it normal for the RPMs to sit high when driving up elevation? Mine kicks into 4th hovering around 3k and takes awhile to up shift after flat surface. Anywho I think this is more exciting to mod than the STI. Looking forward to the community.

There is a specific update that addresses high altitude shifting issues. Dealers can do it, or you can look into getting a custom tune that addresses shifting.

Do you know if there are any tsb coming for a “rough” hot idle in drive ? Like when in traffic. Engine just feels very “busy” as both dealer techs stated to me. Just not buying it because it’s much rougher than my last 3 tacomas which were 3rd gens. Maybe you could ask your regional field tech? I’d greatly appreciate it . Thank you

As mentioned on here ad nauseam, the shift points set up on these trucks take time to get used to. I only have 800 miles on my rig and understand it takes time for the truck to get to know your driving habits. That being said, if it does not get better I may look into doing a tune to see if different shifting points makes for a better ride.

    …..and welcome to TW.
