That’s exactly where I’m at. The only adjustments I could find are cranking the bass, mid and treble all the way up and listen to XM radio for the best bass. I’m going to be heartbroken when my trial is up. Guess I’ll have to wait and see if they offer a better package because I’m not paying $270 a year when my fiancé got it for $75. Although my iPod sounds ok, XM sounds the best.

Literally just call them and tell them you don't see the value and they'll offer you like 2 years at $5 a month or something. They always have insane deals available for people who just threaten to quit.

I think XM is $35 for 6 months of basic if you talk them down.

^this right here, I’ve had XM for like 10 years now and I still pay the same $8 a month. When my year is up they always charge me the max I then call say your service is too much and I want to cancel they say what can we do to keep you I say leave my account the way it was last year and that’s what they do.

They’ve already called me once. I wish my silence unknown callers wasn’t on because I would have answered. But if they’re calling already and I’ve had the truck 3 weeks, they will call again.

If you're willing to spend the time and effort then sound deadening can provide a "cheap" improvement. Only other real low cost option is to change out the front tweeters.

I’ve done both already. And added a foam ring to the front speakers to direct more of the sound to the cab.

What sub did you end up getting? I'm really stuck on the kicker hideaway 10". I'm just wondering if an underseat sub that costs less than the kicker ($350) would give similar results

I’m a recording studio owner and I like the jbl in my 2022 pro well enough. I prefer a “flat” response from my car stereos, meaning nothing is boosted, it’s just what the mastering engineer wanted you to hear. The jbl is pretty much there. No muddy bass, no harsh mids. It’s not my $6k studio monitors but who cares. I experimented with the eq but it seemed better left alone. Unless you’re going to turn it up loud enough to cause hearing damage to cover up road noise it’s fine.

Any 8" Sub will fit. Not sure about a 10". The 8" sub gives really good thump, but nowhere near a big Sub would give you.

I feel similar. I probably bat only 25% of getting a panel off cleanly. They rarely go back on like stock. I wish Toyota made the door panels where the speaker cover was a separate part. My Honda Element has that and upgrading the door speakers was easy. I had to pull the panels off for the tweeters and one consistently comes loose.

I would like a better sound on the JBL but not sure it is worth it. MY bigger concern is the cheap surrounds on the speakers deteriorating in 5-7 years and sounding worse over time.

I’ve got the cerwin Vega 10” in my truck and it is perfect. Very deep bass, very punchy but still crisp. I think the 12” from them would fit as well, but the 10” was perfect and if I had to do it all over again I absolutely would make the same choice.

*it is not blow your pants off deep bass like you’d get from twin 12”s in a ported box, but it is very good and plenty enough for me an avid EDM listener.

Very impressive. No electrical issues during or after the install? Did you have any other issues with getting stuff to fit back properly?

    Thanks!!!

No electrical issues at all. Everything fits behind the seats fine. Im running a 13.5 jl audio shallow sub so it fits fine. I had @Mr Marv build the box and amp rack for me. He does amazing work.

Great to hear. If I had the time and Money I'd love to do an upgrade. With 2 kids and limited room back there I'm stuck in stock land. In my young days my cherished 92 Toyota Extracab 4X4 truck I had a simple 4 speakers, amp and nice head unit and it cranked in that little truck. And of course sounded great too. Miss those days blaring Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Jane's Addiction and grunge in general.
