It is a great location! Truthfully, you'll want to look at much more than raw lumens. Lumens are more of a lights potential, while Lux/Candela and beam distance are measures of actual performance. Using all 3/4 gives the best idea. If you want more info on this, scroll near the bottom of this page and click the words for some animations: http://www.kchilites.com/technology

To make a point about lumens on our current example of the Rigid Midnight vs Regular: Each of these bars has the exact same lumens listed, yet the other measurable values are drastically different. Here's the links to the two products I am referring to so you all know I'm not bullshitting you haha. Here and here.

I haven't even got to beam pattern yet, but there's some good advice. I'm not going to mount anything to the roof mostly because I dont like the look and I dont need the function.

Functionally, all I need is something stupid bright to blind people that cut me off in Sacramento anyway ;)

I havent seen the threads you speak of about light bars, but I'm sure its the same as with "what size tire?" threads. I'm just crappy with the search tool i guess.

    Too small.

As soon as I can get a plate rear with spare mounting option, I am going the same route my brother did on his truck and mounting one of these where the spare tire now sits

(not my picture, just showing for size comparison)
    S8000847 (1).jpg

How it sits on my brothers truck with kevlar covers so nothing gets inside the horns

Rigid lights are very high quality. If you do have issues their customer service is awesome. There are decent quality cheaper light bars out there. On my 4Runner I had rigid sae fog lights and flood lights mounted to my apillars. I have never had an issue with them. I am going to install them on the taco when I get all the brackets.

Ya, your own as its mounted in the ass end of the truck. I would think you would take the brunt of the noise.

Couldnt find my brothers video but here is a video of what the horn sounds like

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXcVkYxLt6g

    K5LA is the horn.

My brother runs it with a 2 stage button so he can let out half the air for a lower tone or press it all the way for the full blast like the guy in the video has set up.

From the inside of the truck its not too loud. with it being under the truck and in the rear its extremely loud from the outside but the inside you're good.

For what it is worth I got a 22" light bar off of protuning labs for less than $200. I used a otraw switch and it works great. Very bright, never a problem. I personally would like one that is less "blue light" but for now it's fine. $800 to use on other things...

Thank You for posting up. There are many differences between Bars from Amazon/Ebay and the name brand competitors. Here are a few reasons why our customers choose Baja Designs (BD)

    https://www.bajadesigns.com/science-of-lighting/uservice.asp

Baja Designs unique use of O-ring seals instead of silicone allows users to change their beam pattern and lenses with ease. This makes for a quick and easy change between a variety of different patterns or colors. You are not stuck with the pattern or color you buy. Try that with our competitors and you'll be left in the dark without a warranty.

    https://www.bajadesigns.com/science-of-lighting/clearview.asp

With more useable patterns than any other manufacturer, ClearView® provides you with a light for every zone and a scientific method to the madness.
ClearView™ is our proprietary optics, which are computer designed in-house by Baja Designs’ team of racing engineers who have first-hand knowledge of the lighting needs of all types of drivers and riders. You can have ALL OF THE LUMENS and they won't mean anything unless you focus the light properly. We have tested our Auxiliary Lights and LED Light Bars against competitors and found a 10" OnX6 provided more usable light than many 20" or 30" bars!

    https://www.bajadesigns.com/science-of-lighting/5000k-daylight.asp

Human eyes have evolved to see best at noon on a sunny day which translates to a color temperature of 5000 Kelvin. A color temperature of 5000K greatly reduces driver fatigue and increases terrain recognition. BD exclusively uses 5000K LEDs to ensure the safest and highest performing driving experience.

AND MUCH MORE! MORE INFO CAN BE FOUND:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/baja-designs-general-discussion-thread.371890/

Customer satisfaction stands at the core of who Baja Designs is as a company. BD gives you a full 30 days to test out your new LED light and if you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, you can send it back for an exchange or refund of the purchase price and applicable tax.
