As long as I've owned my truck, I haven't received a single piece of mail or a phone call from the satellite radio company. When I enter my vin on the xm website, it tells me my vehicle didn't come equipped with a satellite radio.

Mine went out constantly while I had it, but it seemed to get a lot worse in the last year. I read, in a few places online, that this is becoming more of an issue with a lot of satellite radios for some reason.

Yeah I called to cancel after my trial and they kept going lower on the price. I kept responding "Uh, I can stream from my phone for free (yay unlimited data). Is your plan more expensive than free? Oh it is? Yeah then I don't want it."

Yea it's weird because like I said it's only happened with the Tacoma. Other vehicles were fine going under overpasses. I have a 10 minute commute so it pissed me off too. Taking to service department in my opinion probably a waste of time!

This, sirius really wants you so they'll bend over backwards to keep you subscribing. If you don't want to wait for a call you could even call them and tell them you let it run out because it was too expensive. They'll find a way to lower the price for you.

We have a family member who spent many years working for Motorola on their satellite cell phone system. When trial marketing the system with a limited array overhead, there were many complaints from the users about the fact that they don't work under overpasses - inside parking structures and so on. So Motorola made plans to discontinue the effort (huge write-off) - until the US government found out. They immediately placed orders for a separate system - a secondary satellite array to support the military due to the secure world-wide network it provided. Even though the "blackouts" are still part of the system (the low orbits of the satellite array are not like the GPS) - they still "make do".
