It looks to me you really don't need a new cover. If that were my valve cover and I didn't feel comfy doing it myself, I'd only have the dealer remove the broken bolt from it... they may want to remove the cover to do this.

I'd hate to drop an additional $200+ for the cover, on top of the labor/gasket/extraction work the dealer will get.

    ... my 2 cents. :)

Is the dealer replacing the whole valve cover or just the gasket? Might be cheaper for the dealer to extract the bolt instead of replacing the whole cover.

The plugs are supposed to be replaced every 30k. Was this your first time doing it? Might be a good idea to replace the bolts with new ones.

See the photo above. The bolt is half out. But the threaded part where the bolt goes which is formed on the valve cover broke in half. Hence the new cover

Ah, so the boss is broken.

I'm ordering new ignition coil screws when I do my plugs next month. Only 65 cents each.

Yup... there MIGHT be enough meat there to install a threaded insert (not a Helicoil), but the rest of the boss will likely break when being drilled and tapped for the insert.

JB Weld would be a solution.

I wouldn't, but this is just an aluminum valve cover, and the boss is holding a 6mm bolt that keeps the coil in place. There is no stress on that bolt, and it does not provide an electrical ground. It's sole purpose is to keep the coil from vibrating off of the plug, and to hold the coil snug against the valve cover to keep dirt and debris out of the plug tube.

The 2.7 valve cover is plastic, the coils are secured by the same bolts threaded into brass inserts in the plastic.
