like it says, i just ordered the light bar. i have had my eye on it for a few months and finally decided that "santa" needed to bring me one. i initially wanted a bull bar when i first got the truck, but after joining this site i found these and they are a ton better. so is there anything i need to know about them or that you can share with me about them? it says they will work on it for 2-3 weeks and another 3-5 days to ship. how long did it take to get yours? any input on painting it black? spray can bedliner, powder coat, painted black by a body shop? how long did it take to install and how hard was it to install? any other information and input on these is appreciated.

Can't wait to see how it looks as I will be buying one as well. I have a white taco with the stock front.

really easy to install, got mine powdercoated and came out real nice and i think mine ended up taking 3 and a half weeks to be at my door. I also found that it was easier to install once i took my grill off

I ordered mine about a year ago. I love it. The order time was awesome. I think I ordered it Monday and had it by the next Wednesday or Thursday. I just rattled canned it black. My only suggestion is to make sure you get every little rust spot off before paint.

i am really thinking about powdercoating mine too. was it a special place that powdercoated it? like somewhere that just does that? or do some regular body shops do that also? also, how long did it take you to get it on?

that's a great shipping time. they must have had some already made, plus you are close to AZ in TX. probably will take a little longer to get down to GA. but what to you mean by getting every little rust spot off? sanding them off? did you sand the whole thing? and did you prime it? how long did it take you to get it on?

well most autobody guys, here anyway, will paint something if you want it painted. like colormatching your bumper or something like that for example. they don't do just damages. and i am not aware of any "powdercoaters." i did not know if a guy that does paint does that as well. i understand how to install, i just wondered how long it took individual people to install. i know the site says it takes about an hour, but i wondered how long some of these guys took.

Well I kinda skimped on the rust removal and there are spots that every 5 or 6 months need to be sanded and repainted. They are only like little tiny spots, but it bugs me and it would have been much easier to do it in the beggining. I used steel wool to get them off and tried to do the whole thing. I think I did like 2 coats of Krylon Primer, and 1 coat of Krylon Flat black. Install was pretty easy. Two people make it much easier, and snce it is so well made you had to slide it on perfectly straight which took a while to learn. Take off the grille for the easiest time. Oh and don't drop the nuts I dropped on and it disappeared only to appear after a good cleaning 6 months later.

Ah, ok. I got you on the priming and painting part. That kind of makes me unsure if i want to do it myself or have it done by a pro. Thanks for the good info.

haha, that's a pretty good mom then i'd say.

looks good. did they use just standard black paint?

thanks man! i think it gives a good aggressive/unique look to the truck without going all out and getting an off road bumper. what did you paint yours with?

yeah, that's why i ask. it didn't seem too shiny like a gloss, but not too dull like a flat black. i guess the scotch stuff gives it a little shine, but not too much. i hadn't even thought about maintaining the paint on it yet. i will def. look into some kind of product like that.

and congrats on 1000th post :)

I used rubberized undercoating for mine and then some krylon black spray paint. I really liked the way it turned out and its holding up quite well!! There is a few minor chips from rocks and debris but thats about it.
