I have been looking for a Tacoma for a few months and was set on a White or Silver TRD Sport. I found this one at a local dealer, so I went and checked it out. It had more miles than I was hoping, but was also newer than the others I was looking at. They did let me talk to the original owner and it was all highway miles and I had all the service records from the dealer. The truck is in great shape and looks brand new and you wouldn't even think it had that many miles unless I told you. It is a secondary vehicle for me so they should even out eventually. I'm just curious if I paid too much or if it was a fair deal. It has 110k and I paid 23k for it. They were asking over 26k for it and I had been looking at 08's and 09's with 120k that were wanting 20-21k for. Just curious, but so far loving the truck and it drives like a new truck still.

It is crazy. I know I could of bought a new one for like 8k more, but just couldn't justify it at the time. I am very happy with the truck and I'm sure I will get plenty of years out of it. I couldn't believe how much 07-09's were still going for.

honestly, the used ones seem "high" compared to new ones due to resale. I was in a similar situation. I got my 2011 OR 2 years ago with 54k miles. It's a prerunner but has the jbl package. I ended up paying about 25k for it 2 years ago. If I could have gotten a new one and was comfortable with the slightly higher payment, I would have went that route, but in the end these trucks hold their value like crazy.

I had a hard time not justifying getting a new one with interest rates being so low (1.75%). I usually look in the 3 yr old car department and try and find a lease trade-in but wifey let me spring for a new one.

Now that I look back on it, I probably should of just done that, but 23k was already over my budget for a secondary vehicle. I will probably only put 4-5k on it per year, so I figured it will even itself out eventually.

I wouldn't worry over it too much, especially for a secondary vehicle. You say you'll drive it 4-5k per year. You paid 23k for the used one but would have paid probably around 30k for the new ones. That's a pretty good chunk of change to just be tossing on a second car that will barely be driven. Keep the miles low on it and you'll easily get your money back out of it in no time.

Yeah good point. My old truck was a 02 Access Cab and I am loving the jump from that to this. I had that for 3 years and put 12k on it and made all my money back on it when I sold it. :) Its crazy how they all hold there value so good.

for a secondary I wouldn't worry about it either. I was looking for a used truck in Jan of 2013, specifically looking for something around 50k miles. At that time that would have been 2008-2011 and those trucks were going around 23-26k. For me my truck is my DD and I wound up buying a brand new 13 otd for just over 28k. My decision was easy but had it been a secondary I may have opted to save the money, but who knows.

Looks like a well maintained truck.

$23k isn't too bad when you consider it's got at least 200k left in it ;)

Where'd you purchase? Looked at one identical to it a couple of months ago. Loved it. In the end I found an 09 for 6k less with the same miles, same package. Sweet truck.

Mileage isn't really a worry as long as the truck was treated well. The price isn't surprising. They hold their value. Plus now that the 3rd gens are out the 2nd Gen values are going up.

How much did you pay for your 09 and how many miles did it have? Looks clean! I bought mine in Nebraska, so probably nowhere near you.

after re-reading your post, I saw where you said what the asking price was. The 11 I drove was in Jasper, AL at a dealer. They wanted 23K for it. I found this '09 from an individual and paid 17k. It has 105k. Credit Union said the book was 19,900.
