Hi how's it going. Few years ago I had a 06 and was on the site non stop and everyone always was a great help. I recently came across a deal i couldn't turn away from, and picked up a 2002 4wd crew cab.

My issue: With the 4wd in neutral, when i go to put it in park, reverse, drive, doesn't matter... the truck rolls. This happens when the truck is off. With the truck on, I put it into reverse or drive and same thing, nothing, just acts as if it is neutral. I put it into 4wd and drove it easy down the street. It shifted into second no problem and shifted back down no problem. Pulled in the driveway, blocked the front wheels and jacked up the rear. With 4wd in neutral, I shifted into drive & reverse... driveshaft isn't spinning.

So... any ideas on what it could be? It is my first 4wd (long overdue) so I am not super familiar with transfer cases.

    Thank you in advance!

** I tried the search tool, but came up with nothing

That is normal. Transfer case needs to be in 2hi 4hi or 4lo to get power to the tires

I understand that, but I am not getting any power to the rear wheels at all. Regardless if the 4wd is in neutral or engaged.

No worries, this is normal. Nothing should be powered when the transfer case is in neutral.

Also, don't drive down the street in 4WD unless it's slippery (rainy, snowy, icy) otherwise it will ruin parts.

Shifter has to be in 2hi during normal driving ...NOT neutral....that's normal

Not being mean, if you have no 4x4 experience you wouldnt know. But it was funny i thought.

"When in NEUTRAL put it in park, drive, reverse, dosent matter, truck rolls while engine is off. With truck on, put it in reverse or drive same thing, acts as if its in NEUTRAL"...LOL
Again no disrespect bud! Welcom to having a much better rig than a 2wd 2nd gen!!
