    Hi all,

I just put a deposit down on a brand new Tacoma DC OR. I somehow found one under Msrp by a few grand after calling several dealerships that had already sold the trucks before they even got to the lot. Mine is expect to arrive sometime in November. My question is, is there a possibility the dealer is playing a game where once it arrive they try to bump the price on me? They sent me an email with the agreed price but it didn't seem like any sort of official contract. Just don't wanna get all excited only for them to try to screw me come delivery day. Has anyone had this experience?

It’s suspect, but you can print that for when you go to pick it up, and tell them that’s the sell price both parties agreed to.
Chances are, they’ll at least tack on nonsense transactional fees like “paperwork”, and maybe more like claimed port added options out of their control.

Not yet, but I didn't want one, I want the V6 and the end of a tested generation not the new one with all these tech features I don't care about. 2023s are still sold out and all listed at MSRP or above in my area.

They already had their document fee and all that bs on the quote they sent me. The regular bs. But it was still well below what I saw at other dealers.

Then I’d roll w it, just print it up and show up.
If you want to save some time, ask them and let them know you’ll be arriving with a check for that exact amount.

Good idea, I was just suspicious myself cause I haven't seen any under 40k. Was hoping someone went thru this exact process. Maybe there's a turn in the market a bit..

Some dealers stick to there deals. I waited 10 months after my deposit and they stuck to my deal even though they had started charging mark ups on new allocations for pro's. I'm in Massachusetts who are u going with?

Unfortunately a deposit is not a guarantee of sale .always have stuff in writing.more than likely by then they won’t care since the 24 should be rolling in around that time .

Do you have a VIN #?
If so, is there a letter in the last 6 characters?

People need to understand that many dealers care more about their reputation than pulling a fast one on a customer. If you showed up and they tacked on an extra $2,000 for something you’re likely to bomb them on the survey and post on Google reviews, Dealer Rater, etc about how shitty they were. The $2,000 they would make isn’t even close to the money they make for above zone CSI scores, a great online reputation, etc.

With that being said, if you have an itemized proposal with selling price, doc fee, taxes, etc you’re good. Also if the dealer gave you a Vspec with the options, PIO, VIN it’s highly unlikely things are going to be changed to the truck.

    A few.
If the dealer is fairly close in driving distance, I would consider stopping in and speaking to the salesperson your dealing with to get some type of written agreement.

Does the truck you put the deposit on have a lot of dealers installed options (paint protection etc)? I had a heck of a time finding a dealer who would remove those options (was around $2,300 of stuff I didn’t want). Once we agreed on the what was included/excluded it was all good.

I put the same amount deposit on my truck back in June, received a similar break down of price including all fees, and had zero issues or surprises when the truck arrived late August. The dealership I went through used Toyota smart path which basically eliminates their ability to make any changes or surprises once agreed upon as far as I understand

I've never had a dealer play it straight all the way through so I'm always prepared for BS.

I had a deposit on mine, vin #, credit app done, numbers on my car and truck for trade all before my pro showed up. The only thing that changed when I picked it up was they gave me more for my colorado once they saw it then we originally discussed. I was in and out in 15 minutes, girlfriend couldn't believe it.

I do, there is a letter in the last 6, what would this have to do with anything?

I have a written pricing sheet they gave me, which includes all of that with the VIN. Its a specific truck that is reserved, not a general reservation. So I hope they stick to the price. The reviews of the dealership seem great and that they do.

They emailed me a written price sheet, and just requested I email them back confirming I agree with the pricing which I did.

It sounds pretty solid if you’re communicating the way you are, only time will tell? The deposit is refundable so no harm.
