Long story short: ordered a brand new grille from trusted retailer, received with shipping box with now damage but that little spike/cone thing at the bottom of the grill is busted off. No big deal, I can return it but I'd like to think it's OK.

Should I return it? Can't see the absence of that little thing contributing to vibrations/rattling but thought I'd ask before I install or send back to the seller.

    Thanks

I am really impatient and would probably end up keeping it. I think the little cone is just to line up the bottom tabs that actually hold the grille in place.

That little spike is in the center bottom, there are still 4 more mounting points. Two in the upper corners and two in the bottom corners. If you wanted to keep it, maybe send the retailer a picture and explanation of what you found when you opened the package. Shipping to and from now will be on their dime. Play this to your advantage and get some money reimbursed for the grill. There is very little stress on that spike. If the spike is in the box, epoxy it back on and get reimbursed for a portion of the grill.

If the retailer won't reimburse you anything, send it back on their dime and get new. I'd only keep it if he was going to work WITH me.

It says they don't ship on the website? But I would send it back or at least make them give you a discount on something else you want.

They emailed me the day after I ordered saying they don't ship, but that "local pickup only" notice on the web page appeared after I ordered...at least I think. I called them the next day and they told me they had one and would ship it out same day.

They wrapped it up good with "fragile" sticker on the outside box, guess it's a brittle item to be thrown around in a FedEx truck.
