Anyone have a definitive answer on insurance complications with regard to removed swaybar?

I wouldn't mind a quick disconnect but when I unbolted both side of my sway bar part of it rested on my cv's. I really wouldn't want that going down the road or moving at all for that matter. Is there a position the sway bars should be so it doesn't ride on the cv or push into any other component there?

You would have to zip tie it out of the way.

I tried zip tieing the links back but the whole sway bar was resting on the cv's. Do I need to zip tie the whole thing to the frame some how?

Gotta call bullshit. :)I got it. I just didn't comment. I love that movie too.

I have my sway bar off. I love it off road but I did notice a difference if I jerk the wheel back and forth on road. I've driven it that way for a couple of months now and I love it. I off road a lot. They're is an increased risk of rollover on road but I've decreased the chance of rollover off road. The stuff I wheel in poses a much higher roll over risk than on road emergency maneuvers. The chances of me rolling on road are one in a million whereas the chance of me rolling off road are one in a thousand. Obviously those numbers aren't accurate but my point is. I'm playing the odds. Ideally, someone would design a nice disconnect system for our trucks. Then we'd have the best of both worlds. I'd be all over it.

Take a look at your sway bar bushings/brackets. If your sway bar drops down without staying up 'on its own' - then your bushings could be shot or the brackets that hold everything to the frame are loose.

I wouldn't think they are shot the truck only has like 23k miles so I bet they were just loose.

I'm going to see if they are loose first but thanks a ton for the offer.:)

I wouldnt unbolt the sway bar on IFS. On a straight axle its cool. You re probably putting more strain on your cv's. Might rip that knuckle apart. Plus theres the road use. Theres a reason they put them on. Don't want to roll those trucks. Insurance will probably tell you to screw off.

When I was trying to remove the bolts, the nut thats welded on the inside of the frame broke off. The screw is half way in/out so my sway bar is loose on the driver side.

Any ideas on how to tighten it back up?

I looked and the holes around that area are very small, too small for tools.

Any help would be great. Thanks!

I have 4 options for you:

    1. Try pulling down on the bolt real hard as you spin it, or down and to the side and hope the internal nut grabs enough. or try to fit a flathead in there somewhere an wedge it against the frame.

    2. Make one of those "too small" holes big enough to get a wrench in there. Drill it.

    3. Cut the bolt, and maneuver a wingnut in in there to meet a new bolt (wings on nut will hit the frame when you go to tighten it) Probably be a huge pain in the ass and you'll need some amazing dexterity getting the wing nut in place. Maybe super glue the wingnut to end of a screwdriver or something.

    4. Cut the bolt and ditch the swaybar completely. Forever hate that last bit of broken bolt bouncing inside your frame for eternity.

But your best option is to cut the stuck bolt and get a fat self drilling bolt and just use that from now on.

Re-tack weld the bolt in place.

Thought about the cutting the bolt and removing the bar altogether but....... don't know if that's what I really want to do.

I might have to look into having someone weld it....if its possible. Wait, anything is possible... i have a TACO:D
