If I'm seeing that properly, that's a couple of zip ties, holding up the plastic shield, attached to the CV axle?

Surprised the zip tie wasn't worn through yet.

Got this one today. Made me fucking puke up my eggos. The smell was that of infected cheese on a hot plate.

Do you ever inform your equivalent of the highway patrol or state police when you see something like that and the customer insists on leaving without repair? In CA at least, its the shops responsibility to inform the CHP about a customer that drives off with an unsafe or danger to others condition.

We don't have that here in Texas. I wish we did.

Nope, we are not an inspection shop. Not our problem basically, it's up to the customer to take that risk. We have annual state inspections that should catch most problems but it is very possible a car's condition could worsen beyond failing points within a year. But up to them again to make the repairs in order to get another inspection.

Must be different in VA. Half of the things you showed, if you were a licensed repair facility in CA, and the customer refused to let you fix it, you should need to call the local CHP to inform them of a driver with an unsafe condition that left after refused service. Its one of those things you don't really see enforced, but it is a requirement here. Guy with no wheel bearing gets on the freeway after leaving your shop, crashes and kills a family, you would be liable.

Negative ghost rider. It had spent some time up north. Oem rotors and the car had 223k on the clock.

Bet that was making a pretty noise. What's with the grease on the strut?

I put a set of quick struts in. The grease makes it slide into the knuckle easier.

Was it brought in for the struts and you found the destroyed rotor? Or was the rotor a known issue as well?
