The grille makes the truck I guess. I was at the Toyota dealer parts dept today and they had the TRD Pro grilles hung up on the walls, I asked the parts guy what's with that, he said they're the hot sellers. The grille does not make the truck better.

Front end ruins it.I pulled my DCLB up next to 1 at the dealer and it seemed about 4' longer.Wonder if it shifts into D properly or has the buzzy vibration like mine, lol.

It doesn't even have separation between the cab and bed. It's as much of a truck as an El Camino.

It doesn't need it. It is not a body on frame design.

Ugly truck with little to no off road capability (maybe to a mild camp site trail but that's all lol). However, my step dad has a Pilot with 280K and that thing is still going strong. Burns little to no oil, very little blow by.

Nope, there actually is separation between the bed and cab. I know this because I test drove a 2017 Ridgeline last week. There's a black foam-like insert there. The reason they have a bed-separation with the new one is because of stamping in the production line. You can kind-of see it in this diagram:

Sure, it can't boulder crawl, but maybe 0.01% of even Taco owners do that. I'm sure the Ridgeline can handle any fire/forestry road, beach, etc, as long as care is taken to equip the right tires/tire pressure. Not to mention, torque-vectoring AWD is vastly superior to 4hi in snow/ice.

It's more than adequate for the typical truck consumer.

Each to own. Just don't like the looks personally. Whoever wants one, go get one, no need talking about it. I personally think they even uglier in person.

Cause the market really cares about off road capability?! 9 out of 10 truck buyers haven't and wont take their trucks offroad anyways, I mean shit half of the guys that own pickups dont even use their bed.

Are there any places the Taco can go that the ridgeline can't, doubt it. Stock Taco vs Stock ridgeline both capable.

Ill even say this, a majority of Taco owners would probably be better off with a ridgeline then the Taco. If you dont offroad , how exactly is the Taco a better purchase?

I dont like the way the ridgeline looks so I wont be buying one, if it was better looking I would take it over the Taco for sure.

I wouldn't take it over Taco until Honda proves they can make trucks. But I agree I would be more open to looking if it was better looking truck and looked more like a damn truck, which it doesn't.

That's just me. I go camping quite often using 4wd a lot, I own a 450r quad and a 16ft pioneer venture bow rider boat. So I use my Tacoma at it's fullest. I know the majority of the market doesn't. I'm just defending the 2016 from all the mostly false bad rep it gets.

Does it share the same troubled tranny as the pilot? Friend dropped almost 50K on a touring edition this spring. Is about to get his next transmission in a week.

Haven't heard if they changed out the washer the causes the failure. Newer pilots have been popping up in the forum world dead from the issue. Its a notorious issue with both MDX, Pilot and Ridgelines. Kills them often right after the powertrain warranty. Always wondered why I never see any on the road anymore. http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/...s/44590-radiator-blown-ruin-transmission.html

I bet there is a Ford/Chevy/Dodge truck forum out there where they compare their full size 1 ton diesel trucks to our Taco's... and just laugh that we have no torque, payload capacity, and an ugly front end.

That being said... it's great to have competition as it will require Toyota to step up their game... interior, quality, options, etc. all of which are a benefit to us.
