Pop-lock for the tailgate. It's great, it locks whenever I lock the doors.

Plus I preemptively scratch a big ole donger into the clear coat. Good luck reselling that, thieves.

yea, i preemptively banged up mine as well.

but i leave it unlocked all the time so i can actually use my truck. put a hose clamp on the hinge i figure anyone smart enough to undo a hose clamp is focused enough to get it no matter what. might as well make use of that insurance i keep paying for!

    Could be true. :)

I knew a guy that would spray paint his high end road bikes. Back then, $3-5k was top tier and he had one stolen. Practical solutions for an impractical world.

Same guy also used to get hammered with big gulps while riding on the roads in Alabama (or was it Mississippi?). He guessed they didn’t like his spandex and bright colors. He had a few shirts printed with “I love Hank” on the back. Problem solved.

For some time I always thought it was odd why many of y'all wouldn't just simply lock the tail gates with the provided key.

Recently I realized with my 6MT, I don't have the pushbutton start/touch entry so the key for my tail gate is already conveniently in my hands. So when I need to access it, it's not another step.

About 35 years ago in north Pasadena, Ca. kinda up near the Jet Propulsion Lab while riding my then $4K custom road bike (of my own design and I brazed that sucker together) some asshole through an apple through my spokes, which, unbeknownst to me, were the rarer, much more expensive and razor sharp, apple slicing spokes from DT. And yes, I was wearing Peal Izumi, so that was part of the problem. But earlier, in 1980 while riding from Seattle back to Monterey and coming down the grade toward the northern Mendocino coast, a local big rig lumber truck didn't throw anything at me but did run me right off the road into the ditch. When that happens to you, you just wonder why and mutter asshole under your breath and are happy to still be alive.

    LS1 swap with nitros.
People in cars and trucks don’t see you on a motorcycle, let alone a bicycle.

As for the tailgates… Lock em up, 100% of the time. Drugs make the tweakers steal anything they can so they can go buy their next hit.

The 5th gen tailgates are going to skip the pretense and instead will directly emboss the sticker price across the back.

I wonder if you can toss an air tag inside the tail gate or if all that metal would reduce the performance to "not worth it" levels.

The problem is that some judge will let them go with a warning and they will steal another as quick as they can.

Actually, tailgate theft in NJ would be a new thing. Just because he saw a Tacoma without a tailgate doesn't mean it was stolen. I have NEVER hear of a tailgate being stolen here.

Still a CA (and maybe TX?) problem as far I'm concerned. Unless you have real evidence to the contrary.

I added the SaBellCo Tailgate lock after installing the OEM Tailgate Lock; a good investment in my opinion.

So you know every Tacoma owner in NJ since oh, 1999?

Looking for real evidence that there hasn't been

But you could be right. Then again, I could be too.

Then again, NJ is a low crime state, right?
