    Hello TW,
I just sold my taco. I was having a lot of problems with it and didnt want to deal with it anymore. That was my first taco. Im going to give them another try but i want to make sure i purchase a good truck. That being said, can anyone give me pointers on what to look out for when purchasing a new taco? I know about the timing cover leak, air hose rattle, rust, and brakes being mushy. Anything else i should keep my eyes out for? I was thinking of geting an 06/07/08 dbl cab, short bed, trd sport. .

    crap bolted and welded together....
Umm besides just checking the windshield for air noise, the rear to see if it has been bottomed out alot, check all the undercarage as well. If you crawl under there and really look you'll be able to tell if its been wheeled by hidden clumps of mud, plus damage here and there. Really just go with your gut man.

Just out of curiosity, did you have a first or second gen. and what problems made it so bad that you wanted to give it up?

I had a second gen 2006 trd off road dbl cab, sb, 2wd. It shifted hard between 1st and 2nd, i didnt like the engine noise it always sounded like it had an exhaust manifold leak, brakes sucked, and misc other items that really got to me. It had 80k when i sold it.
